Anyone ever lose a bit of motivation to workout over the years? Distractions be it people or personal issues? What gets your head back in the game and gets you back into your killer ass routine?

Lately I feel like ive been slipping and need to re-focus my mind.

I have been wicked stressed lately.. I think a good flick to watch would be Pumping Iron to a ronnie or Jay movie. easily downloadable from youtube probably!

Here is the thing. I find reaching out to help others keeps me going. If I did not invest so much time into helping others I could not keep going. Karma always comes back..

There is power in this bro trust me.

Also reading a book, trying a new product, changing up training, all can work.

I will let this slide in aas for a wile.

Thanks man, I try to give advice when I can as well, thanks for being a great help to me you were the first person to "talk to me" on here.. ;)

With me it's simple discipline. I've committed to doing this. It's part of my day.
I have a 48" chest and a 34" waist. If I stop... those numbers would reverse within a year. :worried: That's motivation enough for this ol' man. :)

It's hard. It really is. The guy I work out with is 10 years younger than me. Two people in the gym have asked me if he was my son. I mean, DAMN, do I look that old? I am only 33. That's motivation for me.

Is what I am doing right now going to help me achieve my goals?

I have my share of distractions. Work. Money. Women. Forced to live at home because of a combination of the first 2. Sitting at home with a nice ass degree, and not being able to put it to use bothers me. And health. Having IBS sucks, plain and simple.

I have 2 sources of motivation. The first is seeing people better than me. Lifting more than me. Looking better. Bigger muscles. I want to outdo them. I never will for some, but I want to. That's what makes me try. Not wanting to be behind someone. Not wanting to be just another skinny dude.

My second is my health. Having IBS sucks, like I said. But I can't let it beat me. I won't. And I push harder because of it. It hinders gains because I can't eat a lot and I get sick a lot. But that just angers me more, and pushes me more.

work killed me for 80/hrs weeks and not enough$$ and i thought i live in Colorado so I can bike and ski--then work--so i walked in to my office--after coffee with HC ^^--so its his fault, and said i am done i am going for a bike ride....so if you see a guy at the stoplight with a "will structure your merger and acquisition for dura ace bike parts" please give

Lately I feel like ive been slipping and need to re-focus my mind.

Look in the mirror. It ALWAYS gets me to go back to the gym and clean up my diet, life, etc

For the first 15 years of training I had an undying inner need to max out my bodybuilding potential. I then realized no matter what I did, or took, I'd never compete in the Olympia. That's when I lost the fire.
Four years ago I started entering powerlifting meets. The motivation to be the best in the divisions I entered allowed me to hit my all time greatest strength level, and my all time best muscular shape - at the age of 45.

Hey Liquid, Those questions don't stop as you get older, but as long as you're here, the game isn't over and you still have opportunity to succeed.
Look at this Flexdaddyz71 post:
My Success Story...Losing 20%BF in 10wks
http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/s...-success-story-losing-20-bf-10wks-596964.html
Read between the lines to see just how much he remained on target to get to his goal within 10 weeks.
He created a low-calorie, high-protein diet that he had to have stayed on to reach his goal.
He changed his sleep schedule to get up early for 1 hour of cardio 5 days a week and he exercised/lifted weights 6 days a week.
He has at least 4 children, a wife and a job.
The guy is awesome and humble and makes no excuses. He shows gratitude in thanking many others, when he's the one who did the hard work and has sparked me to put together my own 10 week program.

Something else that helps me press on when I just don't want to do the job....
I'm 52. Told I look 10 to 15 years younger than I am, but my body is a jumble of muscle and fat. At my age I could give up and move to other things, but I want the success of a decent body again. I went through the mid-life crisis kicking all the way. What I learned is that there is only so much time left to do all the things in life I want to accomplish. Since you're probably younger than me, get ready to view your own immortality and decide just what you want to give back to life. You can always rest to recharge, but losing focus just isn't as much an option anymore.

Also, I get inspired to motivate myself from the memory that I lost my best friend when he was only 38. This model of a great man gave everything he had to those around him and one night he aspirated while having an unexpected seizure brought on by new medication. Cherish every moment with those you love and make the most of the things in life you really want to bring forth. You never know when it's your turn to go home.

Mike

If I ever go out and booze it with a buddy it makes me lathargic for like 3 days. Stay away from booze.

Metal Music gets me pumped and my pics with the greats like Cutler and Coleman.

i look at the top 20 bodybuilder's in the world list every morning. if my name aint on there i keep lifting.

OCD. i focus on something about my body which i hate and i cant stop thinking about making it better. my guess is most people here have ocd, but instead of putting towards booze and drugs, i put mine towards work out looking better. took me a while to get here but i will be 36 next week, and i feel better than i did at 25. but sometimes i get a craving honstly take a weekend and eat like shit and drink a bit, dont worry about how many meals you eat protein etc. dont lift, smoke cigs. if you dont feel like the biggest piece of crap after that than you dont have it in you. the guilt alone should have you in the gym 2 times a day for 3 weeks.

I told you to bill me!

I've been expecting a $1,200 referal fee. :lmao:

So If you see an old guy with a cardboard sign that sez, "will work if you kill my wife."... it's ME! So throw me a bone. :tuc:

I don't look like I want to look yet, and i know I won't be there for another few years.. till then I won't worry about motivation and drive.

I have so much crap going on and so little time that getting geared up for workouts has become a laborious task, so I almost always need a pre-workout boost.

Honestly- and I have no affiliation with Omega or his products- but Amp 02 worked well for me.
