What do you do? Oly Squats or PL Squats?

I used to do olympic squats when I was a bodybuilder.....now I do Powerlifting style where you sit down and back. It puts more tension in the glutes/ham area so you can lift more weight.

Same here. Actually took me sometime to understand that squats were not simply a quad excercise. I can lift more witht he PL style, and get better results.

Live and learn.
 
Oly for me....it's all about the quad damage.
 
i'm in the process of experimenting with the PL style - it so far doesn't really feel right to me. i can move less weight with an olympic squat, but the movement is more natural to me.

plus, i think it's a beautiful looking thing where PL squats look.... strange

Bodybuilding squats look strange to me.

I've done them both. My base was in bodybuilding. It takes new motor learning to do powerlifting squats right. I was lucky to fall in with good partners who can watch my form on them.

It's really all about what you want to accomplish. If you want Quad growth....stick to olymic squats.......if you want to get big and strong and lift heavy weight.....learn how to do PL style squats.
 
Everything has there purpose.
Youll get good growth from PL squats.

Oly squats are better on the quads.

But right now im doing
2 sets PL back squats
1 Set Front Squats

Works great for me.

But when i talk about my squat number im talking about a full pl competition squat.
Unless i say front squats.
 
quad growth yes.....functional strength? Can you explain that please?
