Hey man, make sure you video the next time you go for 455. Especially if you do it sumo style.
It'd be killer to see you pull that sumo style.

Well I meant 455lbs conventional, I don't know if I could do that sumo - we will see![]()

Mike_Rojas said:305. My deadlift sucks! I can deadlift just a little more than I bench. Crazy, huh? I've got a long torso, and I can't get the right hip drive - I end up stiff-legging it. Guess I'll keep going with the box squats and good mornings.
CoolColJ said:
Mine is a stiff legged one too - but I still managed over 405lbs![]()

Buy the woman some chalk.

and a different gym membership too then. "my" gym wont allow chalk, even though i work there. brings in the "wrong element" and is too much work for the cleanup staff, or something. either way they are all gay!
IronLion said:I wonder what the "right" element is supposed to be....overweight overpaid self indulgant baby boomers who pay for a year at a time then come in and use the bike for a week only to never be seen again? lol
bignate73 said:
yes. or gay guys....
the wrong element scares off the gay guys with money. something about weights clanging, cursing, chalk all over and baggys and fanny packs that is like kryptonite to the "target" market.
plus....then the gym would have to spring for weights without handles on them and an actual real live power rack.![]()

One of them is no grunting or loud noises as it may be distracting.
(I think I have broken this one a few times on the last rep)
LOL. I have that one. I'm loud all the time. I don't care.

Thats hilarious. You must belong to my gym (and I dont think I would do any pullthroughs there if that is the case).
Anyway, there is a big sign on the wall at my gym that has some rules.

Another is no perfume or other scented body products of the sort because of people that have alergies and asthma.
I havent seen anyone there with chalk, and I doubt they would like it too well.

SofaGeorge said:I brought the kid that lives across the street from me into the gym last night. He's 14 and I've been teaching him a bit about what to do. We just switched up his routine to add deads.
He pulled the big 145 lbs for 6 reps.![]()
Trust me, I'd love to toss the straps...but they have allowed me to move my weights up. I use them as a tool, not a crutch...only when I have to (and no, not for every set). I struggled with this before and my ego (along with several others...) prevented me from trying them.TheProject said:

heavywear said:550 in a meet and 580 in the gym. WAY weaker than that now, probably at 455-480.
365 for 20 was the hardest dead set I ever did though - lower back screaming!

I think the one he's describing is my favorite bar...it's a bit smaller than the others there and it has better threads on it. I break the rules and swap out the bars for that one every chance I get.spatts said:Aw man! That's the best kind! You're bitching about knurling...and I pay extra for it.![]()

I'd love to have her DL over her karma though!![]()

Nope!
I posted earlier about getting 225x4. Well I had used a 1RM calculator and it said that I could get 250x1, so I tried it last night. I got 255x1, but it was hard as fuck and I could feel the pain in my back. I have had a dull ache in my lower back for about 6 months now. I pretty much SLDLed it up because my back is so freaking weak. Looks like I need to incorporate some GMs. I am pretty sure that my back is my weakest link in DL's and squats now so I need to work on it some more.
BTW bignate. I have a pad that velcro's around the bar to use for squats. I put it around the bar for deads too to protect my shins. It works very nice.
