what do ya'll think about...

a super short routine. Like taking two compound exercises and really focusing on developing strength in those lifts. This is just a idea I've been thinking about but maybe something along the lines of
day 1
squats
shoulder presses

day3
cleans
bench

day 5
deads
farmer's walk

maybe add a couple of accessory exercises like calf raises, side bends, and situps. Does anyone think this would be a good thing or not. Just been thinking of ways of building functional strength, toying with this idea and wanted to get the opinion of some of ya'll with alot of expierence.

You should ask BFold, but I would recommend

D1 Squats, cleans, calf raises
D2 Bench, Presses
D3 Rest
D4 Deads, SLDL, shrugs
D5 Closegrip bench, Weighted chins
D6rest and repeat

this if you want to build core strength and functional strength

I could see doing this if you were a complete beginner and/or doing it for ONLY about 3 weeks max. It could be good for someone who has found themselves in an "overtrained" state.

I still believe that you have to do other things besides squat, bench press, and deadlift to bring each of them up.

b fold - 3 or 4 weeks is about what I had in mind. I dont know if I am overtrained per se - I do know I dont have the same gusto that I had month and a half/ two months ago. What would you suggest?

Cool - deads and cleans together to completley hit the back right?

Well they hit the same muscle groups, except one is a speed/power move and one is a strength move. Good idea to work em together

I see said the blind man. By the way I always look forward to your posts - I dont know how much I get out of them because something is always distracting me.;)

Sure, give it a try for 3 weeks for FUN!!!!

right now I'm doing deads and cleans on the same day and I definitely feel it. I do back and shoulders together and and it feels good so far. The primary reason for looking for an abbrievated routine is that here in the next couple of months time will become a deciding factor in terms of workouts. So I am thinking of ways to maintain size and strength in a smaller amount of time.
