What Color Socks?

I know this might seem silly, but how do you decide what color socks to wear? My job has me wearing casual dress clothes like dockers and a shirt with no tie, so it's not a big issue if I'm a little mixed-up, but it sometimes bothers me. I usually wear either black or brown shoes, and will only wear the brown shoes with tan, light brown, dark brown pants. I try to match the socks color to the pants. When wearing dark blue pants and black shoes, I'll wear black socks, but what do I wear with green or gray pants? Also, is there any time that a pair of white socks fits in with these kinds of clothes?

I kind of thought not. A few others here occasionally wear loafers with white socks on their more casual days, and I thought it looked silly. Glad that I'm not alone on that.

White socks are to be worn with sneakers. Everything else looks silly.

true, avoid white socks. Socks match the pant. always involve the color of the pant in the sock.
