What causes laptop screen to go dark???

The screen is so dark that I can't read it. Tried 50 times to normalize it. HP zt 1155 if that matters.

Anyone familiar with this problem. Warrantee expired 3 months ago. :worried:

Could be a loose flex cable in where it plugs into the motherboard. same thing happened to me, cracked it open and plugged it all the way in and up and running. Just a hint, draw a layout/sketch of your laptop and mark which screws go where or you'll be in trouble...

Sounds like it.

It is a mofu to get to the motherboard though....I'll try to get directions from HP. :worried:

Where are you getting images of that chick. I would share my largish love muscle with her. :)

It's caused by a refraction of sunlight through the ozone layer.

Apply some 25-spf to the screen twice daily.

Thanks jnuts!

Wonder why they did not mention HP?

Does not look like fun. :worried:

It might take some more digging to find the part number, but I'd assume that HP uses the same parts that a lot of other OEMs use. BTW, most brand name laptops are made by only a few OEM vendors.

The link shows the cheapest way to try and get it fixed... it's gonna be mucho expensive to have someone else fix it for you. That's the nature of the beast with laptops.

Went through a small service manual. It appears that HP demands that one simply replace the entire display panel. :worried:

great.....I got about 100 hours out of a "20,000" hour bulb.

Think I may be done with HP in this case.
