What can I expect from this diet?

Ht/6'1"
Wt/250
Bench/365
My build is solid, but I have that big ole holiday belly! LOL!
I am not too worried about losing muscle, since I only want to get down under 230...maybe 220, and then start building again.
So here's the diet:
AM cardio (30min. treadmill)
PM weights
1500 calories p/day (balanced diet, high percentage of complex carbs for weight training)
Gallon of water p/day
Glutamine caps and Vitamins
....That's it! What can I expect? Will I gradually start leaning out? Is there a better or faster way? Let's hear it.
Thanx bros.

From what I see, you're eating 1500cal a day, which is WAY too low. You'll hit starvation in about 3-4 days where you will halt any weight (yes weight, not fat) loss. Mostly due to the lack of T3/leptin levels. Also a high rate of gluconeogenisis will occur, breaking down a lot of muscle tissue.

Why not try a CKD style diet....read my CKD MANUAL, it's a STICK ON TOP OF THE DIET BOARD.

Thanx bro...
but what do you suggest?
2000 cals?
Remember 2500-3000 is maintenance for me.
Hmmmmmmmm.
I'll have to think about it.
Maybe I'll try keeping my cals at 2000.

My guess is that you've misinterpeted your maintenance level. At 250 lb's, my guess is that your maintenance calorie level would probably more like 3000-3500. 2500 cal's a day would be my MINIMUM if I were you, to preserve muscle.

You're 250lbs., so the minimum I would do is weight x 11 which would be about 2750cal daily. This is all depending on your weight, even though the calorie intake looks high it's relative to your weight. I would suggest keeping you cal at 2750 at the lowest.

I agree with your maintenance calorie level number and your calculation.
So in order to lose bodyfat...I should eat a maintenance level of calories?
Hmmmmmmmm?
I always thought that I should cut back on calories to create a deficit that in order to make my bodyfat store make up for this energy deficit.
Just wondering.
Thanx for the help!

weight x 11 is already a deficit...
BMR is based on resting levels of activity, if you're active BMR is not sufficient to maintain

Thanx alot!
You seem to know quite a bit about nutrition and dieting.
It saddens me to hear you dismiss Mike Mentzer's training principles as such, but that is cool as well. Mentzer's principles have worked for me (I was pushing 425, up from 335 within 6 months!) and his theory makes sense. He built his body within' half the time of other great bodybuilders simply by working harder and smarter.
Anyway, I appreciate you advice on dieting. What is your background? What do you do for a job (does it involve bodybuilding or nutrition)? I am a former college football player (CCSU) and a physical education teacher.
Talk to you again, and thanx for the help!

Sorry, I missed this post...don't get too flared up my man....

I teach grad school for a living......no, no bodybuilding...it involves accounting.

Thanx for the help.
Sorry about the apparent "flare up"...LOL.
I didn't mean any disrespect by it, and I hope none was taken.
I appreciate all the advice.
