personally i would want to get married around 25-26. Once i get my doctorate it's smooth sailing. Always guaranteed a job + not much worrying/arguing over money since its pretty good pay (avoid alot of arguments over spending i hope because i don't think money is that damn important personally) and hopefully by then i meet someone that i COULD see myself spending the rest of my life with. Have not met anyone like that as of YET :verygood: :heart:

married at 21 and going on 10 years next year. dated 3 years and we knew from the start we would get married. best thing i ever did. we compliment each other. her flaws are my strengths and my flaws are her strengths... we work well together. i could not have asked for anything more.
 
NEVER!!! I'm 24.

I just don't really see the point in getting married. My boyfriend and I have been together 3 yrs and we live together (moved in together 3 months ago), I don't see how it would change our relationship (we're both atheists anyway, so it's not like there is a religious reason).

There is this goregous rock at Tiffany's I had my eye on. I wouldn't object to wearing that as long as I didn't have to do all the wedding crap that goes along with it!!!!

You wrote Never. I was applying that statement to me too. It meant that I do not have an age set to get married. I don't even see myself getting married.

I have resigned myself to the fact that my life will be the following: living in an apartment in Manhattan, D.C., or some other major city or a house near the beach but working in a major city, with 2 dogs, painting, writing poetry and making jewelry, involved in a series of committed long term relationships that were very happy but came to a peaceful end , attending happy hours, book readings, museums, picking places to travel based on a recent restaurant opening or favorite chef or because, damn it, I love good food & spirits, eating out A LOT w/ friends, and enjoying the best life has to offer.

that'll work till your 36 and all your friends are married. I guess you can still do that with bitter old single women or unfortunate divorcees.
















j/k I don't really see the point of marriage either except kids and man they are a handful I took care of a baby a few weeks ago. unbelievable. I will get married though. I have a friend, both of his brothers are going through shitty divorces. My girlfriend is going to work at a family law firm, he's not even married and my friend said to her "You know that if I ask you to do my divorce you can't represent whoever I marry, I'm asking you right now, you can't represent her." I guess he thought she was smart. Things don't look good for the state of marriage in America though. Not too good. It's too easy to get divorced now, and the social stigma is all but gone.

see. listen to raina. seeing her post you'd think her life is all roses and periwinkle. but a good attitude can trump divorce, at least on the outside. sorry about that raina, I know it's for the best though. all this idealism and the truth is

hey who was that other guy? who we were all telling us how stupid he was for getting married at 21, the guys were I mean, and then him and his fiancee just spontaneously blew up their whole relationship.

Exactly. It's sad but we don't want things to get ugly. We want each other to be happy and care about each other a lot. We just make one another miserable. We got married for a lot of wrong reasons. Lots of guilt and pressure. Medical insurance issues. More guilt and pressure.
 
My life was a lie for so many years bran that I believed it too! I think I thought I was happy. But once I woke up I realized things were horrible.

I'm still not anti marriage though. Just anti-marriage to the wrong person.

wow, im am sorry to hear that. but at leased you figured it out now rather than spending 20 years together and then saying its over. all the time is lost. at leased now you can look forward and start fresh. you seem like a very strong woman. i admire that. take care.

don't worry, I'll tell you you're beautiful and make it worth your while for taking the time to picture yourself and find an upload site i haven't ruined and post it to a gallery and give us the link. it's the least i could to see dark blue eyes. they sound mysterious.
 
I'm a mutt. My dad's family is from canada but mostly with a french background. My mom is half german and half irish.
 
well they are nice. i guess its the german and irish. i am that too and i have blue eyes as well. but mine change color depending on what im wearing. if i wear a dark blue shirt my eyes turn bright blue....

When I was little I thought that 25 would be a good, round number to get married at. Now I'm almost 29 and can't even fathom marriage yet...

not to be out of line with you at all...but i will say when i saw that when you posted a pic of you and your new husband, i said to myself- I'll give it one year, max.....something in your eyes perhaps....(being 100% truthful, no BS)....im sorry for it tho, its still a loss in so many ways...but the insight you both will gain from it, will be immeasurable. best wishes to you both.
