We use to have this here in Canada till 1956, dunno when you guys in the US stopped, but sounds like an idea for some offences. Rape and robbery. I was also thinking about this thread concerning who skinned a rabbit alive.

word, I have heard that and,

in the mid evil times, they would take a knotted cloth, make you swallow it by pouring water in your mouth so you had to swallow it,
then when all 5 feet of it were held within your stomach and throat they would rip it out,

this would usually tear out the inside of thier throat and thier voice box, and they would be left to bleed to death while peasants spit on them and pelted them with odds and ends.
