That article doesnt make too much sense. Its interesting as a case report, but the conlcusion to screen everybody is not practicable.
First, there is nothing in the world without a death risk, even lying flat on your back has a risk of dying.
Second, having a thoracal aortic aneurysm is only one way of thousands to die. Similar risks would include aneurysms anywhere else in the aorta, in the brain vessels, or heart rythm problems, or bullae in your lung, or a very sensitive baro reflex or uknown epilepsia to name just a few. You cant screen for everything everytime.
Third, if you have a thoracic aneurysm, almost anything that leads to BP increase can trigger a rupture, physical stress as well as mental. So you are not safe even with chess on that one. Sure, the BP incease when lifting might be slightly higher than for other things. But that doesnt make them safe.
Fourth, a transthoracic ultrasound is no good method for detecting aneurysms. You cant see all of the aorta very good at all, depending on physique. You need a CT for that.
All in all, life isnt without risk. And I think, most of the people that die during weightlifting dont die because of a disease but because of stupidity.
