Wetsuits (fullsuit)

I don't know much about wetsuits Velvett but I have an idea that will cost a lot less. All you need is crisco and saran wrap.

I know what you're thinking-- what about all the transfasts in crisco. They have a new one without transfats! Just coat your body in it and then have someone else cover you in saran wrap. You want it to be snug but comfy. You can put sheets of aluminum foil over your joints too if you think you'll get cold.

Oh nowhere just now.
New hobbies I guess - met a surfer when I was buying some kayaking accessories and she actually managed to teach me something. LOL It's fun even though I swallowed a lot of salt water in the process.

Deep Sea fishing - whoa, got your sea legs?
:verygood:

I guess. I have this urge to explore and try new things. I want to hold onto this feeling of freedom (Does that make sense?).

Depending how cold the water is you are still going to need action gussets for your underarms, elblows and behing the knees to give you more mobility. If it is just a little cold 3cm should be sufficient if colder you might need to go to 4 or 5cm suits. Rip curl or oneil make good ones.

Does it make sense?!!?
I'm right there with you, if get the urge to try something, anything, you get your ass out there and your try it.

This sounds crazy but that first day out on the kayak did something for me, I can't explain it but it has really helped to change my life.

I definitely have an urge to do this. I'm going to look into it.

I know what you are feeling from your trip. My photoshoot did that for me. The minute I walked in front of those lights and the photographer, I knew there was no turning back. There aren't enough words to describe the amount of emotion that was expressed. I went from laughing to crying (he took pics of all of this while it was going on). More than just the obvious was revealed. It helped changed my life and I'm more comfortable with taking chances. I'm glad I did it and I would not change a thing about it.

velvett you came to the right guy, I kayak so here is my input, if your gonna be out in a yak anytime after october id get a dry top or a dry deck, you dont want that water in period ,a wetsuit will just make you cold as hell,I made that mistake my first year out and just went in a short sleeve and short wet suit and almost went hypo when I swam after flipping in a hole, and due to the water being higher and faster it turned into a mile swim before anyone could help me and then I had to be taken immediately to a car with the heat on full blast and I was still shivering.

as for surfing I wouldnt surf when its that cold as a wetsuit wont help and a drysuit is to bulky.

if ya have anymore questions let me know

I disagree. Theres scuba divers in wetsuits doing the icecaps. you went from a short sleeved to a dry suit.

dry suits are good but theyre expensive and damn bulky you cant surf in them for sure- not only that but youd look crazy

Definately look into more thermoinsulating wetsuits.

im willing to bet those wetsuits cost way more then a drysuit, and they do make more low profile drysuits for kayakers, my drysuit cost me 700cdn which I find reasonable,I no longer need that now so I sold it and bought a dry top since I dont miss a roll anymore, but a drysuit for a beginner is a good idea because you will likely swim.
