Went skydiving today. I came back alive!!

Well, obviously ...

So yeah, it was the most amazing experience of my life. Absolutely incredible. I was a bit nervous, but it all subsided quickly. Probably because I fell out of an airplane and didn't have much I could do about it, lol. I also forgot to pay attention to my altimeter and my instructor pulled the ripcord, even after repeatedly tapping my wrist to let me know to pull it. LOL. I'm such an idiot ...

Seriously though, if you've got a couple hundred bucks you can spend, go out and skydive. You will not regret it.

I just dropped off a roll of film they gave me, so I'll post up pics when I get it back.

OMGH!

I am totally jealous.

Tell me every detail - please.

:D

Okay ...

Got there at 7:30, sat around for a bit. Around 8:00 we signed in, then shot the shit for a while, waiting for them to call our names. No one had a watch on or anything, but it had to be a couple hours. After finally hearing our names called, we went back, met with our instructors, got harnessed up, then went to go!! But, the sky was growing cloudy, and we had to wait it out. After about a half hour or so, it started to clear up, and we were called into the loading zone, where we excitedly entered our aircraft. Interestingly, former President Bush took the same plane to learn to freefall. How cool is that?

So, after what felt like an eternity, gazing every few minutes back at my altimeter, while admiring the view. We climbed to 13,500 feet above the ground, and we were ready to go. Seeing a couple people, as well as my buddy Kevin fall walk out of the plane one by one, I got a tad nervous, looked down, exclaimed "Oh shit!" and was on my way to the most amazing 5 minutes of my life. I'm surprised my heart didn't jump the hell out of my chest from the excitement ... probably because I was too busy noticing the amazing scenery, playing around with the cameraman, and having air push its way into my mouth, nose and ears while I fell like a rock at around 120 mph. Upon reaching 5000 feet, my instructor started tapping my wrist to let me know to pull the ripcord. Me, being the ass that I am, totally neglected that, and he pulled it for me. Haha.

Upon my sudden halt, he pulled my goggles off, and I was free to admire the scenery. I could see up to 15 miles (approx) into downtown Philadelphia. It was the most free I've ever been in my life. Watching clouds pass by, seeing a small rainstorm to my left, sunshine poruing through the clouds ... was simply amazing.

As I landed, I started looking for my comrades who had accompanied me on this amazing journey. I found Kevin, excited as I was. We looked in the distance to see our friend Dan, keeled over, looking like he was going to puke. We walked over to see he was white as a ghost. He had worn a sleeveless shirt, and the harness was digging into his underarms, cutting off the circulation in his arms. He said he had almost passed out as a result.

But, we were all well, and our endeavor had come to an end.

This won't be the last time though.

I'm drooling with envy but I am happy that you had a delicious time and I appreciate your sharing.

:p

Glad you went through with it bro. better than sex? I thnk so.

It is awesome how you can see for miles around. Will the civilian places let you jump at night?
