Welcome to the Bodybuilding and the Law Board

Rick Collins

Author/Lawyer
Platinum
Welcome to EF's new "Bodybuilding and the Law" board! Mike DiMaggio and I will endeavor to make responsive posts to as many of your criminal law questions as possible. To follow up on Citruscide's comments on what to post/not post, please understand that the posts of the mods on this board must be for the purposes of providing general information, not legal advice, and do not of themselves create any attorney-client relationships. Anyone who is contacted by law enforcement authorities as a possible target of investigation or arrest should seek competent legal counsel immediately. It still baffles us to hear people who've had their steroid packages seized, their houses searched, and been told by law enforcement authorities that they'd "better cooperate" ask, "Do you think I need a lawyer?" Duh!

Those of you who are concerned about the continued legal, over-the-counter availability of prohormone products should feel free to post questions here as well (and visit the forum at www.USFA.biz for the latest news). Mike and I are aggressively involved in the fight to preserve the legality of safe dietary supplement products.

Lastly, we want to express our great appreciation to all those who have supported my web site and my book, LEGAL MUSCLE. That includes, of course, my friend George Spellwin and my new friends on this board, including Citruscide. I look forward to your posts!

Best regards,
Rick Collins, Esq.

I only support books that I feel have value... and your book is beyond value in my opinion.

I agree as well... I will include that in the sticky.

If you get popped... "SHUT YOUR MOUTH" :) And if they start reading you your rights... say these words "I want to speak to an attorney... now" If they keep questioning you "are you sure" -- "YES... I want to speak to my attorney!!!"

Stop those interrogations NOW! :)

Man, Rick you are "THE MAN!" This is so cool that you are actually part of this site. I have read you book Legal Muscle cover to cover at least 3 times already, and have reccomended your book on a countless ammount of my posts on this board including another one tonight. I would like to publically thank you for all your support to this iron game. Your knowledge is absolutely priceless, and I hope more people purchase your fine book. Best wishes to you for future success.

Rick- if you can please take a look at my post on has anyone served time in a federal prison. Maybe you can clear up if I have to go in before sentencing just because i'm entering a guilty plea as part of my plea bargain. Thanks
---PEACE---Mad Max

Welcome Rick! We're so glad to have you here!

Thanks; Club Fed

Thanks, Latamier and all others, for spreading the word about LEGAL MUSCLE. The feedback has been astonishing.

A new client called a few days ago. Had his package seized and thereafter made every single mistake a person could possibly make in dealing with law enforcement. He said he wished he'd bought the book a week earlier, when he instead bought another popular book on the topic of steroids, and mused, "That didn't help me at all." Good point.

As for Mad Max's question, generally in federal court the defendant's bond status remains unchanged when a guilty plea is entered. When sentence is imposed on a defendant who has abided by all conditions of his release, the defendant is often permitted to continue at liberty until a fixed date upon which he must report to begin serving his sentence. As I'm sure you know, at sentence the base offense level may be adjusted upward or downward based upon various factors, most commonly "acceptance of responsibility." Sometimes, departures may exist to permit the judge to sentence outside the guidelines. I'm sure you've fully discussed these with your lawyer.

Good luck,
Rick

Thanks RICK- thats what I thought also, but got told by my lawyer 5 min. before court that the da won't allow me out and I would remain locked up till sentencing. My lawyer is a court appointed one and he hasn't worked on a case like mine in over a year he said. I have court this tuesday and was told by my lawyer that I will be going in. What really sucks is not being able to get in touch with the lawyer to answer these questions!! I guess I will se this tuesday.
This board is going to be more valuable than anyone can imagine. I just want to thank the mods of this board and gearge for creating this.

Rick one more question, is it ultimetaly up to the judge if I have to go in before sentencing or is it completely up to the DA? My situation is very weird. I'm being prosecuted with my friend who's in this even deeper than me. We stand next to eachother in court, the judge wants to keep us together. Now he has a VERY high priced good lawyer, my friend is claiming that his lawyer says there is no way he's gonna let his client go in. Who'd head is he going to have to go over? I am assuming I will benefit from his payed lawyer and if he can get his client to stay out I should be able to too right? Thanks again.

MadMax...I am Rick's full time Legal Clerk and I am happy to say that I have learned more about AAS and the law than I ever would have imagined. It has been a privilege to work alongside the master. Obviously, Rick is extremely busy and his time is limited; therefore, I will do my best to keep up with your questions in between visits from Rick himself. Many times I will be relaying Rick's thoughts and answers to save him time and allow you to hear the information straight from the number one authority on the subject.
I have been around the boards for years and I continue to keep our finger on the pulse of the happenings of the internet world. I must say that Elite has drawn an amazing group of members with infinite wisdom to share. I am confident that this forum will add a feature that cannot be found anywhere else on the net... the truth about the law!
I would like to thank George Spellwin for what is truly a brilliant idea for a forum and for all his support of Rick and Legal Muscle. I would also like to thank Citruscide for the time and information he shares with all his fellow board members. He is a valuable asset to the community.

Sorry for the intro...now to answer your question. From what I've seen from working with Rick, when two individuals are being charged together and one has a better lawyer, often the individual with the less experienced counsel will benefit from the deal or plea obtained by the more experienced attorney. This of course assumes that "their" culpability is equal to or less than that of their "friend."

Welcome to the board Mike.... the members, and I especially, await to hear the advice you guys have to give on this highly specialized area of law.

I am fascinated by the chemistry of AAS... it's uses for the human body, and so on... I also have a incurable fever for the law... This forum WILL be like anything on the net!!! The resources we have here offer the stone cold truth and we have the BEST of the BEST leading up our frontlines!!!

i am very new to this board, and all i can say is, this is the best thing since getting internet......
thx to all members

For those of us who have been lucky enough or unlucky enough to have to hire rick as that case may be, he plays straight and will listen and may even argue with you in a respectful way. Hehe.

Anyhow, think I could get a signed copy of the book signed by BOTH of you, especially since I paid $5K for it which was the expenses cost I forfeited to you even though no expenses were ever incurred?

FYI to Elite Fitness members with nagging unanswered legal questions, I'll be dropping by the Ironman expo in Pasadena next month and will be at a booth at the Arnold Classic expo in Columbus in March. I've put a bit of time aside to answer questions, share thoughts, and talk shop with my bro's from the boards, free of charge. Or just stop by and say hello.

Being in England the law here is very slack on gear the Police dont give a toss.Any drug operations will be on Ecstasy, coke or smack.I dont know anyone who has ever been done for roids.Exactly how bad are things in the U.S.I hear horror stories about people being busted. If you had a container load delivered over here that might be in a bit of bother but other than that no problems at all.Availability of good stuff is no problem. Is there a big problem with fakes over there because of the law then.Cheers.

WOW, its pretty weird seeing I was on this thread almost 3 years ago. My last post to this thread was a few days before I ended up serving a little over a year in federal prison.

You would really be baffled to know what I have been going through the last few years with the ones who write the laws. And much of the trouble I am going through today is because someone with lots of political power thought I saw something in a health club I was not supposed to see. This was in Texas and Bush Jr was not yet the governor-but he still had power.

I do not see why drugs and prostitution is illegal-because no one is a victim. Both people are agreeing to the arrangments and no ones rights are being stepped on. I do not do dugs or I am not a prostitute. But I think the law is over reacting to this.

They are using taxes as an excuse? Before it is all over with, I would not be surprised if it comes out one of the major reasons for that Iraq war is to hide money they spent irresponsibly. The feds are not worried about money.

I had trouble with my wisdom teeth. The dentists kept mking excuses not to see me, but we paid them about 2,000.00 over several visits. Finallly, I went in crying cause I was in so much pain. After months, that time the dentists finally looked at my x-ray-and my wisdom tooth was laying on top of a nerve. Anyhow, this one of two places where it became obvious the pharamcists were not giving me what the doctor was prescribing. The other was appetite suppressants. Before the pharmacists risked their licenses, not to mention jail time-they had to be real sure they were legally protected.

When I went to get my own drug test-law enforcement stopped the drug testing center from allowing me to take my own tests. ANYONE WHO THINKS I AM LYING-I HAVE THE AUDIO RECORDINGS. ONE PERSON CONSENT RECORDINGS IS LEGAL IN TX AND LA

The people on this board who are worried about getting arrested may be dealing with the ones in their individual state-but it all comes from one main place-dept of Justice in Washington-whom when I was reporting real crimes (against me) had repeatedly refused to take my calls.

I read that post about the DEA reading his email; the truth is they lie about how they get information. Lots of times they get it illegally, such as going into someones house w/out a court order. What they want from the person they are arresting is a reaction. One way to catch them, is listen for the exact verbatim phrasing-it goes from gov agent to agent-"lying liars lying to other lying liars! What resulted from 9/11? they can do all the snooping they want w/out a court order. WHO IS HIDING SOMETHING??

WHEN CITIZENS BREAK THE LAW, THEY GO TO JAIL. WHEN CONGRESS BREAKS THE LAWS THAT THEY CANNOT LIE THIER WAY OUT, THEY EITHER CHANGE THE LAWS OR RESIGN. THE PEOPLE IN THE WHITE HOUSE ARE ACTING LIKE THEY ARE ANGELS, AND PASSING JUDGEMENT ON EVERYONE ELSE. LOOK AT THEIR BEHAVIOR. THEY WILL NOT LET ME HAVE ACCESS TO MY OWN RECORDS. I SIGNED 1000 PRIVACY RELEASE AGREEEMENTS BETWEEN TX AND LA-AND THE GOV AGENTS GETS VERY VERY QUIET. ACTUALLY THEY BECOME MORE CAUTIOUS.

Perhaps bringing this information out, may help someone else. I hope some of those people in Bush administration are on some real good drugs; It is scary to think they may be making these decisions w/out any logical explanation.

Wow, been about two years since someone posted here.

"HELLO"

Partagus, I'm with you. I've been trying to stay a little more active on the body building and the law fourms.

BUMP!

Hi Guys, I'm new to the board, ((well actually about 10 years ago I was on here alot, now I'm back)) So, I'm sure this is an annoying question that gets's asked over and over, but what exactly are the laws on prohormones ,"clones" or designer steroids? Is there a link that has complete details?? Damn alot has changed over the years, I haven't been in prison LMAO ((just got busy with kids and family)) I got indicted back in 1995 for selling anabolic steroids and the law was pretty lenient........as I got back on here and browsed I cannot believe how times have changed!! I did some in depth reading about the prohormones and designer steroids......fascinating. Back in my day I didn;t even give prohormones the benefit of the doubt, If it was otc, it was garbage as far as I was concerned LMAO. OK, enough of my rambling, just excited to be here! so what are the laws on prohormones and designer steroids? is there a "list of banned or illegal prohorhomes?" is there a list of legal prohormones? Thanks guys !!

Kudos to Rick. If I ever get in trouble feels good to know who to call:) I would just keep my mouth shut till I spoke with you god for bid something went down. If it's a good case would you fly down to San Diego, CA? Be a great vacation too!

Ok so quick question! The book by Rick Collins "Legal Muscle" is from 2002 and nearly impossible to find! The last post-conflict this thread is from 2010, and what had changed in the last 5 years regarding steroidul and the law? Are there updates and is this board still Being monitored?
