another approach that i liked when doing 5x5.
when i was having trouble adding weight every week. what i did was decrease the time of my workout.
like i did my 5x5 for bench with 255. then did all my other exercises. my workout took an hour and 15 minutes. next workout, instead of going up in weight, i would be done within 1 hour. then the next time 50 minute workout. then between 35-45 minutes.........
well if you only do this workout once a month. you just fatigued the muscle a lot faster than its used to for 3 weeks. so now when you add 5 lbs, take longer time, get your workout done within 1 hour and 15 minutes again. if its easy, go up next week. if its hard like it was when i did 255 for 5x5. then i stick with that weight for 3 weeks ruducing the amount of time worked out.
