I'm taking a week off, going to switch up my routine, to a conterpolarized workout.
Just wondering what you guys do on your week off? anyone do anything, even a little cardio...I woke up this mourning and was halfway out the door and remember that its my week off, and i have nothing to do, i was considering doing some cardio, but...blah...

just kinda venting, maybe I'll just hit the gym and go into the steam room or something...

Whenever I take a week off, I do absolutely nothing related to training. I let my body rest and recover.

i just finished a week off...going to get back at it tomorrow. just for the record, i hate taking time off. it's harder to stay on your diet and get all the necessary food in, i lose the consistent pump that i have from training during the week, and i look like shit in the mirror all week. my strength almost always drops when i finally do get back in mainly because i haven't been eating enough. ah well...my joints are thanking me at least. time to get back into it.

yeah i feel myself getting weeker.
and its the second day..damn
so in theory this planned layoff will help me grow better, when i do get back into it
?

and yeah i agree my diet has pretty much gone to shit...
and again its only the second day!
heh

Force yourself to keep your diet in check, for one.

You need the rest, in the end it'll feel much better. You'll be fully rejuvenated, fired up, and ready to go once more! Just don't even focus on weight training. Don't even look at these boards for a week. Chill, sit back, watch TV, play pool, or anything that's relaxing. Read, if that's your thing, whatever.

When you get back to the gym, tear those weights to shreds. Unleash the animal within you, my son. :p

I've been off for about a week and don't plan on lifting for another 3-5 days. I might do a little cardio/ab work in the next couple days, but otherwise I do nothing. I cut my calories back 3 days after my last workout though...no need to be eating 4000cals if I'm being a lazy ass :D

stay active, or else your hormones will go crazy and make you feel depressed

for a female or male? i don't think 7 days of being inactive will significantly reduce or change any hormone levels

Yeah, the important thing to remember about taking "time off" or a week off... that's from the lifting or lotsa cardio you might normally do. You can still go shoot some hoops, throw a football around, play around in a pool... go out and have some fun! :)

Don't you think that with the huge change in endorphin release that your body won't get thrown out of whack?
I was noticing it today already (even though i did cardio) that it was easier to get down over stuff... I'm sure after 2 weeks I'll be full out depressed.. haha.. this isn't overly hormone related.. but I'm sure if your body isn't getting stimulated like before that it is going to release less GH as well..
Anyways.. this is me pulling stuff out of my ass... I couldn't tell you for sure weather it would reduce actual hormone production.. but I can tell you forsure it can fuck with your mood

I'm in the beginning/middle of time off right now. I don't want to be but I kinda have to. Stupid school. SOOOOOOO much work right now.

:)

your talking about brain hormones like serotonin and the like....i was talking about testosterone, lh, fsh, gh, igf-1, dht, tsh...etc

3 weeks off due to a Knee Injury.
I can feel the Blues from lack of cardio especially and the Upperbody even has suffered due to not feeling up to even the slightest pressure even when sitting/lying on the bench.

I should know today if going under the knife is in my future.

When I take 2 scheduled weeks off each year I also just have fun and still get some exercise at the beach/pool/skiing etc..

Realize you probably will gain a pound or so of Fat and get over it.
