Ok...so I am sitting here at work...totally relaxed. I am kicked back in one chair with my feet up in another...breeze blowing through...and surfing Elite.

All the freakin' sudden...waaaaaa...waaaaaaa...waaaaaaa...my weather alert alarm goes off and I nearly fall backwards in my chair, take out the computer, and anything else in my way...

Whew...just large hail and strong winds...whew...thought they were gonna say that Wal-Mart was wiped out or something.

GOTCHA. DO YOU WORK ON A GOLF COURSE OR SOMETHING? I USED TO WORK FOR A PARK DISTRICT, DOING MAINTENANCE (MOSTLY LANDSCSAPING). THEY WERE ON SOME PHONE LIST FROM THE WEATHER BUREAU, SO THEY WOULD GET A CALL IF A BAD STORM WAS COMING.

For anyone that cares, you can buy a Weather Alert Radio for like 15 Bucks at most Electronics stores or Radio Shack....

They look like a small radio and sit silent until the National Weather Service send out a severe weather alert for your Area.

The thing will then sound an alarm and broadcast the alert and any updates sent out... Only for your local area that it can receive via radio waves.

Lots of Schools get them and you can have your own...

You too can be like BFold, and fly outa your chair when it goes off..

Yeah...we got ours at Radio Shack too. Funny story how we got it though...

It gives you the forcast for your area, radar pics, and it gives an audible and video alarm when the weather service has given a warning/alert in your area.

Drive a Jeep for 6+ years and you learn all kinds of ways to get weather forcasts.
