weak side

New member
is there any generally accepted way to fix a weak body part?

meaning - dullboy has a tough time doing dumbell presses because the left side is about 25% weaker than the right side.
it's freaking weird. i can press 130lbs on my right side 8 times, but i can't do 100lbs on the left side more than 2 or 3 times.

starting to think it's not really a strength issue as much as sort of body mechanics issue. any ideas?

I have, had a weak shoulder, which had lead to a severe imbalance in the muscles in that arm. Stronger Tri, weaker bi, etc. I started using resistance bands to help it out. I'd use them before and after my worout and just focus on a full range of motion on the weak parts. It took some time, and what was worse is I had to back off the heavy lifting(so that I didn't keep strengthing the same muscles and cheating the others). Well, it has imroved a 1000%. I still give it a little extra tweaking before and after the workouts, but things are coming full circle. Maybe this might help, Give it a try. Good luck.

I suggest dullboy switch hands and jerk with the left for a few years , should strengthen things up .. LOL

Righty has gotten use to wrestling with the test induced trouser snake for way to long ...... time to become a switch hitter , of cource you run the risk of a poor grip at first so you'll need to be carefull not to slip off and punch yourself in the chin :)

that's a pretty big difference in strength from one side to the other. Is there a noticable size difference between left and right pec, shoulder or tri?

no, that's what's so weird about it.

it definitely has something to do with my shoulder - maybe my rotator cuff?

There you go bro, that was exactly my problem. One shoulder kind of rolled forward and the other was OK. I did a lot of heavy lifting and then it really started to show how imbalanced my body was. Start watching your shouldes as you lift. I noticed originally when I curled that my trap on that side would tense up more. I also started using a lot of dumbell lifts, as opposed to straightbar. This allowed me not to cheat it and focus on the parts that were struggling. It takes time to get it all squared away, buit if you don't, you'll probably end up being more messed up in the long run. Peace.
