First it said "no operating system found"

now when he turns it on and off it says
"invalid boot diskette insert boot diskette in A"

what do we need to do?

its a windows ME

First Find a window.

Second open said window

Third throw it as hard as you possibly can out of the window.

That's like using a condom with holes already punched in it.

My parents computer did this same thing.."OS not found"

I put in a new HD and it works fine now.

Hopefully you can get in and backup all your porn first.

When you download as much porn as Hammy does, you are bound to get some nasty viruses, trojan horses and worms ;)

I think it already bit the farm.

Get the version of Knoppix that Digger mentioned a while back. Burn it to CD and try to boot from it. You might be able to mount your HD and examine it. You might then also be able use the Internet to get your data safely away before you reformat and reinstall.

Alternatively, you may be able to do similar things from a boot floppy if the machine has a floopy drive.

They'll never figure all that out. They just need to buy a new drive, connect the old one as a slave then drag files over if they can.
