Ways to spice up your cottage cheese?

Lumberg

Here's mine:

Go to your local fru-fru gourmet store. Buy some sun dried tomatoes. Go home. Put them in your FF CC. Eat.

What are yours?

I'm still not allowed to eat cottage cheese (on a pretty strict CKD diet for a while yet) but I can't wait until I'm on my maintainance diet.... it's gunna be a mainstay of my daily eating.

I like to just use a stick of celery to dip with.... it's better than just chugging away at it with a spoon, plus you get the benefits of the celery and it tastes better. That's what I do!

I like the cottage cheese with pinnaple I add one scoop beverly vanila protein powder,,,,,,test great!

I think of cottage cheese as a sweet food, and not a salty food. I eat Cabot brand fat free cottage cheese, and I like to add vanilla whey and peanutbutter. The peanutbutter further slows the absorbtion of the protein because of the fats, so it would be particularly good to mix it in if it is the last meal of the day.

Someone on here (I think Frackal) would take a package of Fat-Free Jello (whatever flavor you want) and add that to a cup of cottage cheese. At least it was something different.....

I just add pepper and eat it....

I bought cottage cheese with chives thinking it would be something new and exciting but it wasn't that great. BUT -- it WAS great for eating with my baked potatoes. It tastes a lot like sour cream and the chives, well they're just meant to go with potatoes.

Ick! I really don't like cottage cheese but I have been making myself work with it since it is a convenient kinda thing. I dust a ton of curry powder on it along with salt and pepper. I do mean a really good bit of curry. Then I mix it up and put it in a scooped out half of a cucumber. It really isn't bad that way and most of all it's fast!

That sounds good Vixi, and I thought I was the only one taking the core out of a cucumber and filling it with Cottage or tuna.

I like to add sugar free fat free pudding to it.

For every cup of cottage cheese, use a tbsp. of pudding mix (vanilla works best)
you can add a sugar sub if you want it sweeter.

then i just add some water and mix it up until its pasty. Taste like a mix between cake batter and icing.

Steam some broccoli and cauliflower to smooshiness, mash the two, then mix with lowfat or nonfat cottage cheese. Melted cheese and tofu chunks are optional.

THE BOMB RECIPE..

1/2 cup FF cottage cheese,
1/4 cup of flax o meal,
2 scoops of protein powder,
1 packet of stevia,
a sprinkle of cinnamon,
1/2 cup of water....
mix and chill for a few minutes.....it is the best!! great pre bed meal....try it and tell me what you think..

I do this too - I like to then mix it with oatmeal.

I don't even add the pepper. The only way I have ever really been able to tolerate the stuff is plain. Howver, I've read a few ideas on here that I might try.

I'v tried about 15000 different ways to eat it, and the best I have found is straight from the tub, or in an omlette. you can just mix into scrambled eggs too if you're not into omlettes

In a blender w/ protein powder and fruit. Sounds a little weird maybe, but tastes damn good. Just a little bit of water. Better thick.

I have noticed that eggs and cottage cheese do go well together. I tried the pepper thing. Overall I think plain is the easiest way to eat it.

As far as the shredding thing, the only people who will notice the effects of dairy are competitive BBers trying to show every last striation. For a regular person who wants to look good at the beach with a nice six-pack CC won't harm you too severely.

And the think all this time I've been eating cottage cheese plain, thanks for the ideas I will give them a try.

Don't knock the plain approach....lately I have been pretty lazy and it ain't so bad plain (I grew up eating it so I am used to it--great next to a burger!)

i like it just fine when its plain but lately ive been chopping up a small tomato and adding to a cup of low fat cottage cheese-great bedtime snack.

i use tigers milk and CC....its awesome (12-15 carbs) otherwise a scoop of a good vanilla protien poweder it taste like cheesecake...not joking

You can mix up about 1/2 cup to a cup of CC, add just a couple drops of vanilla extract, cinnamon and a packet of splenda. Spread on some low carb/high fiber bread and toast in a toaster oven or under an oven broiler. Tastes like a cheese danish.

Just do the vanilla and sweetener to taste.

i usually hate cottage cheese, :(

but i tried cottage cheese with pineapple (came like that from the store) and it's the shit :p tastes really good i can eat it all the time.

A great way to add fiber and EFAs to ffcc is to grind up some flax seed and mix it in the cottage cheese. Actually tastes pretty good.

Interesting ;)

I've been blending it with some fat free fruit yogurt - putting it in the freezer in small containers, then each night, I microwave it to get it soft and eat it - not bad.

I agree.
I make sometimes an omelet with egg whites /salsa (parsley)/coriander/pepper and pieces of low fat cottage cheese.
