Ways to make motorcycles safer........

How do three wheelers do? Trikes I believe some call them. They look very comfortable and easily allow a V-8 to power them. What fun! Much easier to see as well.

The Germans attached carts in WWII, see Hogans Heroes for the definitive historical reference. How does that work for safety?

Trikes are fun, but the biggest safety issue with bikes, is cars. Three wheels will keep you upright, but against a car, you still lose. :(

Motorcycles are not that dangerous. You just have to be aware of your surroundings, and expect the unexpected. Respect your bike's capabilities, and your capabilities and you will be fine.

Seatbelts

Actually, the ability to bail from a doomed bike can be a life-saver. I know a dude who was riding on the freeway when ahead of him a car spun out of control and skid to a quick stop. There was no time for the dude to brake and he couldn't avoid the car. What did he do?

He bailed. He jumped out of his bike, over the car, tucked, and rolled to a stop with nothing more than bruises. His bike, on the other hand, was totalled when it rammed into the car at highway speed.

brighter lights...working on it for my bike. just got my pipes put on this weekend, so it is a little louder now.

My dad got fucked up pretty bad riding a bike.... Its too dangerous imo.... such a small % of road users are bikers, and such a high % of traffic casualties and disabled are bikers
not trying to be a smart ass, but do you have actuall stats...?

The biggest dangers to motorcyclists are motorcyclists themselves.

If you look at the accident reports, (Hurt Report, for example) you will see that in about 1/2 of all accidents, the rider had at least some alcohol in the blood stream. Also, in about 1/2 of all accidents, speeding was decided to be a factor. And just in general, there's a lot of dumbasses getting big bikes without having any idea as to how to handle them. A huge chunk of bike accidents is comprised of single vehicle crashes.

BTW, I ride an R6. My weakness is speed and twisities.
