Ways to keep a 5 o'clock shadow look all the time?

calveless wonder

well...i've come to the conclusion i look much better with a little scruff on me (like....1-1.5 days of not shaving. anything more and i look like a terrorist). Girls i meet and girls i've dated always tell me they love it when i have just a tiny bit of scruff...makes me look rugged. i tend to agree.

Problem is when i'm clean shaven i look very young, my face looks puffy (especially since im bulking now)..and you can see my blemishes alot easier.

anyone have any ideas? I tried shaving only with the grain but it's not quite good enough...makes it too patchy.I have very thick, coarse and dark facial hair..

i was thinking maybe electric razor since they don't get very close, especially for my type of hair?? But i don't want to drop like 70 bucks and be stuck if that's not going to work.

any ideas?

Recently bought a Wahl beard trimmer (handy for so many kinds of trimming) and it came with a "stubble guide" - which trims you down to that 1-1 1/2 day growth. It was only around $30 at WalMart

I have an electric razor with a beard trimmer. Just let your facial hair grow out and then trim it with the beard trimmer. I've been doing that for about a year now. Don't use the actual shaving part. It won't get your skin as smooth as a regular razor, but it will make it look as if you're closely shaven. That's been my experience anyway.

Same thing here, what I do is just use a beard trimmer and it trims it to just the right amount, the only problem with that is you have to do it everyother day to keep that rugged look. So I usually shave once a week with a razor just to clean up a little and then I use the trimmer 2-3x/wk takes only about 3 min to do it. I get dry skin when I use the trimmer so I put some moisturizer on my face afterwards
