I am not talking like training b/c that's never really a problem...i mean i am 21...and at times i'd have to say feel unmotivated..it's retarded...i am in university in the faculty i want to be in yet sometimes it just seems like i don't care. I also procrastinate a lot...i really need to work on myself...i know studying is not fun but a lot of time i just put it off...it's hurting my grades...

Anyone know anyway to increase my focus? motivation?
Maybe i am looking for a kick in the ass!

You need to drink some green tea and let that rock your world, it's especially good for clearing the mind.

You sound sorta depressed, are you depressed?

i feel ya brotha.....I have been quite unmotivated myself as of late...I am hoping to snap out of it soon....

Well, in recent days weeks and months especially of a calamity of a football season would say towards the end i could have went to a doc and they would say u need medication but since then all of the cobwebs have cleared a bit but i need to find a way to get into a routine...
I can't really keep blowing things off...or i'll fail out of school...

ARGH...must get discipline..!!!!

You need to focus on your goals.

a man with no goals is like a bent nail - useless

a man with no goals is like a sailboat with no sails

Reevaluate your short term and long term goals. Remind yourself the reason you are in school and where you dream to go. Dont settle for mediocrity.

I know exactly what you mean. My motivation for school sucks. I mean I would like to learn and do well, but starting is the hardest part. The best thing you can do is get rid of all of your distractions. Manage the distractions and it's much easier.

Goals, where do you want to go? what do you want to do?
Nothing worth having comes easy.
You can't find the sunshine sitting in the shade.

get a job at a reputable place so that you can see some people in a place you want to be... everyday they pull into the parking lot in their new sl55, you will be motivated. If you don't know what you want to do, take a quarter off and go explore the world. See what's out there... by the time you come back, you will be more amped on school I promise u.

Hey I know how you feel man! It's difficult, but you will eventually pull through.

I have to first ask, do you have a job?

If you don't have a job and can possibly squeeze one in, I would recommend for you to try and get one (part-time, casual, etc). That way you can make a little money, but at the same time realize that you want more and a better paying job. This might motivate you.

Also, perhaps consider volunteering for an organisation/hospital. If you are around people who are less forunate then yourself, you might be motivated to work harder and not waste your life away. Sounds corny I know, but I've done it myself and it's an experience that's for sure.

I like the recommendation to travel. Don't rush school. Take it easy at YOUR pace. If you feel you need some time off, the best thing to do is to travel and enjoy the world, even if it's going somewhere only an hour away! The biggest mistake people make in school is rushing.

I used to be the same way. I finally just realized that I'm only going to have one chance to get a degree and have a successful career and life. I weighed that against partying for the next few years and accomplishing absolutley nothing. Granted I don't really have a life anymore but i'm sure it's all going to pay off. I know these aren't really motivating words but it is the practical way to look at things. Studying is boring as hell but you'll eventually get into the habit.

Well, there's one major problem. Studying doesn't need to be fun, per se, but it should at least interest you somewhat.

Generally, general education courses take the least work-- a good thing, since they rarely apply to ones major. However, your core course, in your major(s) and minor(s) should carry some significant interest to you-- again, a good thing, since one should be spending the bulk of their work doing primary coursework.

I would suggest, for one, to re-evaluate what you are in school for... what you are doing, what you want to do, and what you enjoy doing (now or in the future).

Second, I would strongly suggest you see a school doctor about your A.D.D. *wink* so he can properly medicate you. Adderall works wonders. Prescription amphetamines may not be the be-all, end-all solution, but they will certainly light a fire under your ass!

I stronly suggest not taking breaks from school. I have never personally known this to really benefit anyone; quite the contrary, it usally makes it harder to come back. If this is really what you want to do, do not delay the inevitable. Do it and get it done with. Don't get in the mind frame of taking breaks, or prolonging school more than necessary.

As PolishHammer said, you need to look in the mirror. Are you willing to see yourself? You must see what you need to change. The only way you will progress is if you can see what needs work on. Center your life around positive people who will see you for who you are and help you in your jorney in being successful!

I agree with the goals plan. However, some people set goals that are way too far out of reach. If ALL the goals are too far out of reach, you will continuously fall short and feel like a failure. You have to have both short and long term goals. Make sure you can take short term steps torward the long term goals.

That is the problem but not how you think...i took a bunch of courses (4) but only one is one of my core courses this term...basically the other three are alright...one elective i took really backfired...i think it's a lost cause...
Otherwise i am ok...i couldn;t take one of the other core courses this term b/c i had football at the same time the class ran...

WEll...it's not like i havent thought of it...i am having trouble focussing and crap but still how much of this is medical and how much of it might be just me being a lazy sack...sometimes i feel like my mind is addicted to some sort of gratification...in other words...it is always in the present and never thingking future tense...and as i entertain myself(tv,internet(doh!), making food, etc, the time keeps slipping away...it's like i can;t control the urge to procrastinate...maybe i might just need a change of scenery...

My mind is a tricky thing...
