when i did a ME attempt on squats 2-3 weeks ago, my 405 was deeper than the 365 attempt, and the 365 was deeper than the 315 i tried.

I found this odd because i see most people go deeper on the lighter weights than the heavier ones.

I think the heavier weights make it easier to get down into a deep position. I am like you, I cannot squat deep with light weights. . its weird lol.

not really...i used to be like that myself until i started really going deep on the lighter weights to get your hips used to going deep. yea.its easier with heavier weight because of gravity..but its more of a hip issue than anything. tb

I totally agree!!

Tight/non-flexible hips are a problem.

you'll have to start doing deep light squats to loosen those hips out. box squat helps with this as well. tb

I feel like the deeper I go, the more power I have out of the hole.

yeah I've noticed that too, maybe it's some kind of elastic rebound effect because even if I pause a split second in the hole I'm still stronger on the way up from below parallel than if I stop at 90 degrees.

when's your next max attempt gonna be Knight & are you going for 425? Looking at your last vid I think you'll get it no problem

Yup... don't have to worry about inconsistancy with box squats :D It's the only squat i ever do

When we trained in Tulsa this past weekend, one of the HUGE squatters (Jim) actually warned us against overusing box squats. Basically he said that you can come to rely on the box too much, to tell you when you're at parallel, to "catch" you, etc. It made sense to me. Boxsquats are an excellent tool, but I think you need to train regular squats as well.

mid january, ill work up to 405, then through on some 10s, if i hit that ill go up to 455, and keep throwing on 10s or 25s till i cant do it anymore.
