They were a rap group and they were Irish. They made a CD after the one that had Jump Around on it. I bought both. They were an ok group. But the greatest ever? Please. They weren't even the best white rap group ever. Beastie Boys and 3rd Base both were better and Eminem destroys all of them. And finally the lead rapper went solo and made some shitting Rock/Rap albums. The DJ went onto form Limp Bizket.
 
Curling's hatred, and lack of tolerance toward other people was just too much. He was warned, and he kept posting threads with derogatory themes over and over. We can't control what's in a person's heart, hell, we can't even judge that here, but we can control what is posted on this board, and that is what his banning was based on.
 
Most people are unaware that curling and HI were the same person.
 
I think his "who hates towel heads" thread did him in.

Actually, I had no clue he was gone until I read this thread. Then I had to sign out and log back in with my mod handle to read about it on the mod board.

That's true.

I'm still debating if curling was a real person or not. It could be someone trying to make some sort of point or someone imitating a dumbass hick. If that was the case then big props to that person.

If curling is a real person then I'm thinking he's trying to figure out why he can't log in. And when he comes back it'll be pretty obvious that it's him.

I am leaning towards the "not real". I think it was somebody that was smart enough to play a good asshole online, and was able to keep the story line straight, so there weren't any contradictions in past postings. Some great continuity there. Props to whoever curling really was. You really pissed off some people on this board.

Consider this. He spewed homophobic, racist and religious bullshit, stereotypical of a white trash, double-wide living, Texas redneck (I know this because I grew up around them)

Now with those strong beliefs, how did he get a job (I thought he might own his own business) with a secretary, and was able to entertain the idea of buying a $37K bike, and in one thread, he had asked somebody about how much heroin they had injected. How would a Babtist (I'm assuming) know about injecting heroin (I'm not plat, so I can't look it up)?

And if I were a businessman, would I want to do business with that kind of redneck? Would anybody else?

Plus, when I went to Texas for Thanksgiving, I invited him to meet me wherever he chose. He declined once he knew I was gay. It was not like I was going to date him. If he were the Christian he says he is, then wouldn't he want to meet up just so a real live homo could answer his questions? Or at least try to convert me?

So most of what I wrote above is tongue in cheek, but this is my own opinion, based on what I've seen him post in the past. I can't totally believe that he was a "real" persona.

If he wasn't real, that's almost scary how someone could keep up that act. Someone would have to be almost fucked in the head to maintain that and devote so much time to a fake character. It's kinda scary.

I met him not too long ago.. met up for a shot of mezcal and a couple beers out here in PHX... I would not say we were "close" or anything - but he and his wife were very nice and he was fun to hang with...

Curling didn't think. I can think of many bigots that did not annoy me nearly as much because they at least try to support their convictions with some insane reasoning.

Funny - there are a ton of people around here with socialist economic views and leftist ideas who spout their opinion with little evidence but we don't find it reason to ban them now do we...? :)

Curling is real. Someone here just recently in the past few mnths met him in person. I traced his IP about 2 dozen times and it never changed. He never matched any other member either.

He has a BS in Accting. Which if you know the field reflects his desire to catergorize every damn thing.

So I will ask this: Was he anything like his EF persona in real life? Did he come across as homophobic and bigoted in real life, or do you think his EF persona was magnified?

When I met up with Longhorn85/ttlpkg, he was not the rabid Republican Bush backer in person. I enjoyed talking to him, and he was a genuine guy, with alot going for him. In retrospect, it was nice to meet the total package, not just the persona on this board.

LOL, not to imply that just because he's a Republican, he would have nothing going for him. It was nice to meet the well rounded individual, not the screen name.

I was commenting on the approach of topics with a lack of logic, not the comparing value of the respective views...

Still, I think over time he did subtley modify some of his approaches and have slightly more appreciation for certain things.... More than he was given credit for anyway... Probably more than people gained any respect/appreciation for his point of views... (though note I would not criticize him for having any of his views- to each his own, I might have a critique of someone's view itself, but not the person)

Also- if someone's convictions could be drastically altered within even 100 pages of dialogue - it would not be much of a conviction now would it.... (unless your name is John Kerry of course - where I would expect it to take no more than 2 pages, lol)

He was a regular dude, very nice - as I said above.... A great dude to get a couple beers with - I wish I would have had more time that day... Many people on here seem like whackos, but I bet in real life are more "normal"... I think the "amplification" is an effect of the internet...

Many people are pissed off right now... there will be some errors in judgement... I bet there are a lot of peopole that would like to say/do things they otherwise might not be proud of...

Besides the fact I see a lot of hispanic/homophobic comments/terms regularly... And hell I am not perfect myself... Just because you sweep something under the rug does not mean it is not there... It is worthless to have a pretty house if the insides are eaten away by termites....

I personally dont think "towel head" is so offensive one should be banished. Surely it was something worse than that. Who said he has to like homosexuals? I mean I may not agree with people and may not like things people do, but should he not be able to state his views? "towel head" is sort of factual, since alot of Arab men wear towels or similar fabricated material on their head. Afterall he was voicing his displeasure with the people who hid their faces and sliced off a young man's head. Weren't all of us a bit shocked and angry about this?

As a member he should be entitled to state his opinion even when it is different from other people's.

Perhaps I dont know all the "evil" things he did to get banned. What? referring to those "gentlemen" who sliced a man's head off in a derog manner? piss on those evil bastards, you ban curling and he was venting over an American being beheaded?
