I know it's been said before but for those that forgot, I will reiterate...Cook your QV products or you may just find a 50cc abscess in your quad. I thought I was just getting localized growth in my quad and never even thought it was infected as I had no symptoms(red, warm, itchy, fever). I was only injecting QV Deca into the quad and I had been doing so for a couple months. Last week I was pulling back on the plunger when I was injecting and I noticed some whitish pink fluid enter into the syringe.
I kinda freaked out, but b/c the swelling had been there for months and I wasn't sick, I was a little confused as to whether or not I had an infection. So I then stuck a 10cc syringe with a 21 gauge 1.5" all the way into my quad and started to draw. The syringe slowly filled with the whitish/pink fluid which was very thick and not viscous. I went to the ER the next day and got Cephalexin (antibiotic). They looked at my leg and prescribed the antibiotics. I then went home and started to drain the quad myself, again. All together I took 50cc's of fluid out of my quad, after the antibiotics began to take their course the fluid quickly became more viscous and entirely red in color. At that point I decided there was no more need to drain as the antibiotics were already working at clearing up the infection.
I am very glad I handled the draining myself, as the Dr. explained if he did it he would need to make a 4 inch incision in my quad and fillet it. This would have meant a 3-night stay in the hospital and a lot of down time in the gym. Please, don't misunderstand me. I'm not recommending that everyone take care of their own abscesses. I am just sharing an experience that worked out well for me. It's only been 3 days since I started the antibiotics but the swelling has already begun to come down.
Words of advice, cook the QV.
And I will not fail to mention that I use only sterile needles and syringes, and always use alcohol wipes.
