This is Belgium btw. I live in a student town with few non students living here. Blacks are few and far between and most dont even speak the national language.

People suck. Race, nurture, nor religion have anything to do with the aforementioned fact. When there is a vacuum of authority, society will ALWAYS turn out the same way. Some will loot to survive, some will loot to profit, some will rise up as corrupt power, some will defend the weak, and some will sit on the side of the street and die. God bless all those who are there no matter what category they're in. We'll all get our "up and commin's" sooner or later...

if you watched the news before the storm hit you would have saw I-10, bumper to bumper at a dead crawl. literally impossible for people to continue getting to it. not to mention anyone ever drove that part of I-10 knows it in itself is a shitty ass highway and only contributes to the problems.

72hours IS NOT enough time to evacuate that area.

not sure how many natural disasters or emergency situations youve been in but i will tell you this is fact. there are people who will stay behind to do exactly what were talking about. that is fact, ive seen it, i know it. not only that, but people will actually enter the area even though govt agencies and news people tell them IT IS dangerous.

im not saying this about any one people, im saying this because it is fact, it happens. you figure the rest out.

btw i rode out hurricane alicia in 1983. it was cat 3 but still packed a punch. i was actually pretty scared. i kept hearing what sounded like a frieght train. and that is the noise tornado's make.

and yes i did some looting, minor shit and it wasnt food or water.
 
the bad thing about the lootings is, its not for food only they are looting tv's vcr's and everything they can get their hands on. its ludicrous what they are doing.

I strongly agree with you. After seeing so many threads like this and trying to correct them (I use to get into battles with people all the time when I first started posting in C&C), you then ignore them. Of course they continue to be created. After awhile, you either completely give up or become emotional.

It is one thing to have a intelligent conversation about a controversial topic. Will some people get upset? Of course. That said, one does not have to be ignorant to be controversial.

Horseshit. People stay because of bravado, machismo, because they don't have the resources to leave whatever. They do not stay expressly for the purpose that they MIGHT get a chance to loot. That's ridiculous and you know it :)

Why grab a gun? Maybe to defend yourself, your family, and your property, those are a few good reasons. People have to defend themselves, calling 911 is not going to help much. As far as the racial makeup of the looters, I'm just sticking with the facts. Most of the looters are black, there are no images of large numbers of white people looting because the looters are mostly black. Get it? I'm sure that meth heads in Phoenix could loot with the best of them, but the current situation is in 'Orleans.

So who would you expect to be looting? The only ones left in the city: by and large the blacks.

State should have bused the poor out to safer, higher ground and return them when the water receded and safe for them to be bused back to their community...

It's not chance when your poverty is the direct result of your racial traits. It's not a coincidence that anywhere you travel in the world, blacks are the bottom rung of society.

For the last time, what is happening in New Orleans has little to do with race, creed or colour. It is a desperate situation that has brought out the worst of society.

The inference that black people purposely stayed behind risking the wrath of a category 5 hurricane is nonsensical.

Anyone looting anything other than something to survive should be arrested and anyone walking about armed should be shot if they even look at the authorities wrong.

For those that seem enamored with speaking in semantics, generalizing is part of everyday life. Generalizing an entire race or sect of people as a result of the actions of a few should not be.

Finally, to the grade schoolers, perhaps one day you can grow up and debate a point without allowing the conversation to degenerate into nonsense and insults.

isn't the vast majority of the populatoin of that area black anyway? So wouldn't it make sense that the vast percentage of anything would be black people? For instance in a picture in a newspaper today I saw a highway filled with peolpe just standing around. There had to be close to 200 people in the picture, and I swear to you all of them were black, well at least i didn't notice a light skinned person in the picture.

Captain PC I think the point he is trying to make is that, regardless of race, their is a element of human who knew that opportunity might present it self here. I thought of the possibilites as soon as NO was evacuated and even made a thread about it
