Viper Vs Supra video

it's been said previously, but i'll say it AGAIN......

look at the displacement difference between the Supra and the Viper. now look at the 1/4 mile times they were running. i was having a hard time seeing some of them, but in every race it looked like that Supra was under .5 seconds slower...WITH LESS THAN HALF THE ENGINE.

i like things that look good and go fast. i hate riced out cars. however, bone stock supra doesn't look bad at all, and i wouldn't fuck it up by making it look retarded.

i'm a fan of muscle cars, big blocks, endless horsepower and torque, and speed. however, japanese cars and motorcycles do just as much with half the engine. yeah, pitbull might outrun me with his bike up against mine, but he's got a 1340cc engine in his, i've got 600ccs, and he wouldn't get far away from me. it takes THAT much more of an american built engine just to beat a japanese one.

and lets hit on fuel efficiency real quick here...a Viper gets what, 10mpg, 12? i wouldn't doubt the Supra gets in the 20s.

yes, it was a V6 mustang, but.....

took the gf's Civic today to save some gas (double the milage than my Blazer). hit a stretch of road with 2 lanes that runs a few miles long. a V6 mustang jumped in front of me, we were both going about 75mph. we both ran up to 80 and passed the other cars in the right lane. i stayed in the left lane 2 car lengths behind him. he apparently thought this was a challenge, so he started pulling away. we ran up to 115mph and i was still 2 car lengths behind him. 1.6L SOHC NON-VTEC 96 Civic keeping up with a late 90s V6 Mustang. he had twice the engine. yeah, i know, a GT Mustang would've left me eating dust, but it's sad when it takes an American car twice the engine just to beat a Japanese one.

I agree with you for the most part.

Jap cars are much more efficient in the power/torque to CC ratio.

Not to mention in the first video, the Supra driver was driving like a retard. He didn't have the right tires to begin with, his attempts at a burnout were pathetic, etc.

The Supra has a inline 6, 3 L, 2JZ-GTE motor. These are steel block motors that can easily be boosted to 600 HP without detonation, misfires or cam/head damage. There's a real good reason that these are the preferred jap car for 1/4 runs and drifting.

As for the Viper, it sports a V-10, 8L motor, which produce massive amounts of torque. Hence the reason the Viper was off the line much quicker (not to mention that the guy in the Viper was a better driver).

I like American cars as well as Jap car. Rice free, please.

Uhhh.....what bike do I have that has a little old 1340cc motor....... It's a built 145" motor with a blower......and if someone with a 600.....ANYTHING...thinks they would pull anywhere close in a 1/4 mile run....I'll have a dozen of whatever there taking...... :)

As far as fuel economy goes.......

A. Who gives a shit, we're talking performance cars.
B. For those who give a shit, the viper will avg. 27 mpg in 6th gear on the highway..... :)

I'm all for a great debate....but just because you see something on the internet, or read something in a magazine.......DOESN'T MAKE IT FACT.

I'll say it once, I'll say it again.....stock Supra vs. stock Viper = Supra loses everytime.

I have at one point had at my disposal damn near every car you can think of....unlike many of the magazine article regurgitators chiming in here. Including at least 2 dozen Supras (single turbo's, twins, blown n/a cars etc..) as well as every year Viper other than 92'. The cars are on two different levels PERIOD. I have not slammed Japanese cars in any way, but if someone on this board knows of or owns themself  , a Supra that will touch my Hennessy Twin Turbo Viper..........bring it. :)

8L Viper engine.

3L Supra engine.

Viper needs more than double the engine of the Supra to beat it.

pathetic.

Apples and Oranges bro......

N/A car Viper

Twin Turbo Supra......so the displacement can't be equally considered.

And it's still a Dodge.

And the supra is still a toyota, the same kind of car you see little Asian ladies driving. At least the dodge has some balls

wasn't sure the displacement of your bike, i thought i was close. what does it run in the 1/4 btw?

in this discussion, you fail to acknowledge why a stock Viper will beat a stock Supra by .3-4 seconds in the 1/4 mile...and that's because it has more than double the displacement. more than double....2.6 times the displacement! even with THAT much more displacement, the Supra still holds pretty firm ground being under 1/2 second slower in the 1/4 mile.

now, imagine if the japanese build an engine that was 1/2 the size of the viper engine, or hell, say 5-6L displacement.....the viper would look completely pathetic.

pittbullstl,

i met a former car dealer, and he was giving me advice on buying a used car. he said that there is some kind of book dealers use when purchasing a used car. he told me to go to a dealership, tell them i like car x, and tell them i will pay $500 more than what this book says.

do you know what book i'm talking about. i wrote this shit down, but i lost it.

It's the Black Book (wholesale values) there is rough, average, and clean book.....to be in a car right you need to buy it below average book. In most cases this will allow you to drive said car for roughly a year and a half with average miles, and not lose money. It's getting harder and harder for you to strike a deal like this with a dealer, due to there being an oversaturated market of wholesaler's.
