Violin, piano, guitar? anyone?

So who had to learn this shit? What instrument did you play. I was forcefed piano and violin then picked up the guitar. Then in college it was cool to pick up chicas playing moonlight sonata on the frat piano.

How many of you had parents that gave a shit about this?

I studied piano thru Jr. High and then played basketball instead. I bought an acoustic guitar in college & taught myself while I was laid up in bed w/ some foot surgery. Then I just figured I'm better off shaking my booty to the beat than tryiing to create the beat.

I played the tenor and baritone sax. I was good, the lead sax in the school orchestra, advanced and jazz bands. Got to play the national anthem at Dodgers stadium twice. Once I got to high school and started hanging out with the "cool" people I stopped playing becasue I thought it made me seem too nerdy. Now I don't even remember how to play. Planning on taking some lessons in the near future though.

Guitar since I was 20.

No talent, but I can still play the basics for fun.

I think it was good for me ... requires a part of the brain that
is rarely developed and/or used.

lol @ the idea of my parents making me go to music lessons

i learned to play the drums...with a hammer
...and the violins played all by themselves when i complained

while i like the idea of playing an instrument, i like the idea of building a house better

ive played guitar for 18 years....my mom made me play an instrument when i was 7, so i chose the guitar...started with classical guitar at first,,then went on to play rock.

its a great thing to know how to do..

impresses the hell outta women too.

Piano was the toughest. Trombone the easiest, guitar i did not learn how to play traditionally, self taught playing rock songs.

Played clarinet back in school so I could sit next to the 2 hottest chicks in the school I turned out to be good and ended up sticking with it until highschool was over.
I also played some sax in jazz band and now I'm playing guitar for fun (learning on my own)

Trumpet-7 years
Guitar-2 years
Piano-less than 2 years here and there

Piano's the hardest mentally, but most rewarding.
Guitar is the most fun to play.
Trumpet...that was in school. The hottest chics at my school were in band; it was a huge band too, somewhere around 70-80 members. Trumpet is the least fun out of the three, but still a decent instrument. This was the only one that was pressured by my parents, and imo, least worthwhile. Go figure.
