That entire gym is to blame for letting this guy spot. It's only 295. Jfc.

How the hell do you get that it was the gym or the spotters fault. The guy was way out of his league and using a false grip. This one was the guys own fault.

what kind of damage do you think that could do to someone...besides cracking your sternum? :worried:

aside from the cracked sternum, damge to the clavical, possible collarbone injuries, irrepairable damge to ones self esteem and pride could be done. this kid might not ever be allowed back into this gym again, he will shunned by all, and looked upon as an outcast for the rest of his life. this is an injury he might not ever recover from. this clip being posted all over the internet isnt helping either, this kids life is ruined.game over, man. game over. :rainbow:

A proper spot for a max lift should have the spotter gripping the bar without pulling the weight on the rep. THe spotter shouldve had his hands on that bar in an "upright row" position.

A spot doesnt mean watch the guy struggle, it means lend support in case something happens and grip the bar. Another problem in the gym, ppl who don't know how to PROPERLY spot someone. I don't give a fk what anyone says, after that first attempt, the spotter shouldve realized this kid was in trouble. They're all fkn momo's.

yup that's some huge weight right there ;) If he ran a few grams of primo he'd have made the lift I bet.

def. not the spotters fault, retarded kid sees someone in Flex using a thumbless grip and decided to go for it.

Anyone touches my bar during a lift they'll get a yelling at that they won't forget.. spotter is there to help if you get stuck, not to hold the bar for you. If you need hands on it, you can't lift it.

Fuck you. I guess you're the know all of spotting. It didn't make a damn how the guy was spotting him if he did use the technique you are referring to there is still no way in hell he catches 300lbs the way that guy dropped it. As far as being out of his league that isn't the spotters call thats the lifters call.

Also concerning the spotting technique, he was doing what I prefer. I refuse to let anyone get near the bar when I am maxing out unless it looks as though I'm about to be going in reverse. The slightest touch on the bar helps significantly and it isn't a true lift.

your an idiot. unless the bar starts falling when im trying to push it, my spotters do not touch it until im in trouble. that's how you build muscle. that's how you push yourself. i don't like lift offs either. i like to feel what i'm gonna lift when i lift it off the rack. then you have a sense before your unlock your elbows what your gonna do. if it's too much, you'll know it before you do it. i used to wrap my thumbs but in my years of lifting ii've also come to realize that when your gonna get stuck, squeezing on that bar as hard as you can sometimes helps you get it up. you cannot do this with your thumbs wrapped the other way.

either way, it looked like it hit this poor bastards neck and i do have sympathy for him as whoever's "fault" it was, it's still a terrible accident and hope the guys okay.
