VETERANS DAY :The Things They Wrote

country under the Democrats:
1. Economy prospers, crime is down, abortions are down, teenage pregnencies are down, and even drug use is down. Clinton, however, very concerned about the "growing threat of terrorism".

2. Clinton dismantles military. Orders 52 tactical aircraft in 2001, as opposed to Bush's 58 in 2002. Orders 6 new naval ships in 2001, as opposed to Bush's 5 in 2002. Clinton upgrades missiles to JDAMs, from 10% under HW Bush to 70%.

3. Military is so dismantled it prompts Lawrence J. Korb, director of national secuirty studies at the Council of Foreign Relations, after invading Iraq to say "The fact of the matter is that most of the credit for the successful military operation should go to the Clinton Admnistration."

4. Paul Bremer on Clinton: "he correctly focused on bin Laden". "Overall, I give him very high remarks" - Robert Oakley, a Reagan counterterrorism official. August 3rd Bush says "If called on by the commander in chief today, two entire divisions of the Army would have to report, "Not ready for duty, sir.". Proceed to kick the crap out of Afghanistan in late September.

5. 38 days after taking office, WTC is attacked for the first time. Clinton captures and imprisons Ramzi Yousef, Abdul Hakim Murad, and Wali Khan Amin Shah. Doesn't even need to invade Iraq to do it.

6. Clinton's administration thwarts plans to kill the pope and blow up 12 US jetliners simultaneously, in addition to the attack against the UN headquaters, the FBI building, the Israeli embassy, the LA and Boston airports, the Lincoln and Holland tunnels, and the GW bridge.

7. His 1st crime bill contained stringent anti-terrorism legislation, as did the second - also sponsored simulated terrorist attacks to see how the cities would respond.

8. Clinton issues a directive authorizing assination of Osama Bin Laden

9. Instead of funding and arming terrorists like Reagan, or ignoring them like Bush Sr., Clinton puts Clarke in charge of dismantling them. As a senior Bush administrator put it it, it was "everything we've done since 9/11."

10. "A commander in chief leads the military built by those who came before him. There is little that he or his defense secretary can do to improve the force they have to deploy. It is all the work of previous administrations. Decisions made today shape the force of tomorrow... and when that war (1st gulf) ended, the first thing I did was to place a call to California and say thank you to President Ronald Reagan."
-Dick Cheney

Bush admnistration not so thankful to Clinton for Iraq and Afghanistan.

And now the Bush Administration:

1. Fights all of Clinton's counterterrorism spending. "The administration would be wise to utilize the resources Congress has already provided before it requests additional funding." -Orin Hatch on Clinton requesting more funds to fight terrorism

2. Republicans object to Clinton's proposed expansion of the intelligence agencies wiretap authority. "When you have an agency that turns 900 personnel files over to people like Craig Livingstone... it's very hard to justify giving the agency more power." -Newt Gingrich

3. On bombing targets on Sudan and Afghanistan - "The President did exactly the right thing. By doing this we're sending the signal there are no sancturies for terrorists." -Newt Gingrich

4. When George W. takes office, Sandy Berger briefs Condi Rice on al Queda(who then lies about this meeting, and upon getting caught, admits to having it).

5. Richard Clarke lays out the whole Clinton al Queda plan, Condi likes him so much she decides he should stay.

6. Outgoing Clinton officials say "The Bush team thinks we're obsessed with terrorism".

7. Bush and Rummy, not really interested in fighting terrorism, start funding programs like missile defense (star wars). Yeah. Missile defense.

8. Feb 15th, Hart-Rudman issue a report that "mass casualty terrorism directed against the US homeland was of serious and growing concern". Recommends a National Homeland Security Agency.

9. April 30th, Clarke presents plan to fight al Queda and to start a National Homeland Security Agency. Gets floated around the office, ignored. June 10th, FBI agent sends headquarters a memo concerning some middle eastern students learning to fly who have no interest in taking off or landing.

10. Mid July, the threat of terrorism making him very anxious, George Tenet tells Condi that a major attack on American soil is imminent.

11. Bush administration finally looks at Clarke's plan in mid July, but the president is on vaction (where he is 43% of the time). It will have to wait until September.

12. George Tenet delivers Bush a memo entitled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.", saying al Queda is planning on hijacking planes. No one follows up the memo. The next day, while on vacation, Bush tells the press "I've got a lot of national secuirty concerns that we're working on - Iraq, Macedonia, very worrisome right now."

13. August 16, INS arrests Moussaoui, saying he's "the type of person who could fly something into the World Trade Center." Now if only we had that Department of Homeland Security to analyize this it might have reminded them of a plan Clinton thwarted in 1996 to fly a plane into the CIA headquarters.

14. August 25th. Bush still on vaction. Clark's memo of fighting terrorism still sitting around, waiting for his attention. Bush tells press "Spot's a good runner. You know, Barney-terriers are bred to go into holes and pull out varmint. And Spotty chases birds. Spotty's a great water dog. I'll go fly fishing this afternoon on my lake." He does.

15. Feeling the heat in August about this "imminent terrorist attack", acting FBI director Thomas Pickard requests an additional 58$ million from the justice department, which John Ashcroft denies. Pickard wanted this money to train new agents, get some translators, and improve intelligence. On September 10th, Pickard receives Ashcroft's official letter denying the funds.

16. 8 months after Rice had been briefed, and 11 months after Clinton told him to create it, Clark's plan finally reaches the Principals Comittee. Bush is back from vacation. Cheney, Rice, Powell, and Rumsfeld decide to advise Bush to adopt Clarke's plan with a phased in approach. They wait several days before they put it on his desk.

17. September 9th - Congress proposes boosting anti terrorism by 600$ million, taking money from the missile defense system. It gets threatened with a presidential veto.

18. September 10th, Ashcroft sends budget request to Bush. Includes spending increases in 68 different programs. 0 deal with terrorism. Ashcroft passes around a memo of his 7 top priorities, again terrorism isn't on the list.

19. September 11th - ...unpreventable?

20. Clinton's "defunct, cut, non-battle ready military" kicks the crap out of Afghanistan. Proceeds to do the same in Iraq (which, incidentially, had nothing to do with September 11th.)

Damn the domocrat that wrote that has a lot of time. Probably he's unemployed and living from the benefits.

If you don't know how to respond, then why don't you just admit it? And if you're going to sound ignorant, at least spell "democrat" correctly so that you don't look stupid at the same time. Considering you have such difficulty piecing together coherent sentences, I doubt you'd have much to offer in terms of a rebuttal.

Yeah, and under clinton the cia is gutted, our intelligence capabilities are gutted, our military is gutted, the big corps lie, cheat, steal, artificially inflate profits to artificially raise the stock market, clinton allows 18 soldiers to be butchered in Somolia, then pulls us out further making a mockery of their deaths, refuses to arrest bin laden on several occasions,
commits adultery, fornication, etc while on the clock with tax payers money, violating every sexual harrasment law in existence, gets away with it.

Hmm, John Kerry, disgraces uniform, disgraces his country attends meetings with our enemies, does have the most liberal voting record (at least when he does vote) please,

If it weren't for the true vets and current military we wouldn't be having this discussion because we wouldn't have the freedoms to do so.
