We've had him for 8 days now. He's betwen 5 and 1/2 and 6 weeks old. He's been fine up until now. I fed him about 3 p.m. and soon after he began throwing up and diarrheaing. He's still throwing up periodically. His little body willl heave like he's got a bad virus or something. How long should I wait for it to clear up before I take him in?

Go now!

He's drinking water on his own and walking around right now, and biting my feet so I assume he's not too sick?

could be:

Worms
Parvo virus....id hes had his shots then I know what it is:

Dietary indiscretion

i get scared anytime my guys even skip food...the vet loves me...i would go as soon as you can....could be worms.

Have you changed the food he eats? Puppies can get use to one type of food and if you change it they can get diarrhea until they get use to the new food. The nausea can be caused by any number of things, have you given him any type of table food or snacks?

he's eating canned puppy food. they were feeding it to him before we got him. he's been very energetic and healthy so far. this is the first incident. i'm taking him to get his first shots later this week. he's asleep on my lap right now. i just hope he doesn't get sick and die. i will freak. i've never had to take care of an animal like this and my daughter would be devastated. i have to leave him alone in his kennel tomorrow for 9 hours. if he's still sick, i can't miss work, so i don't know what i'll do

My boxer did that a couple times as a pup. Puked and shit like no tomorrow. The vomic really stank too.

He should be ok, just make sure that you have a bed down for him to keep warm in. I wouldn't let him eat anything else tonight, though. Then give him some food in the morning.

That's what I was wondering. Thanks. He's eaten twice today, but he probably threw it all up after his last meal at around 3 p.m. He seemed to be getting chunky and now looks a lot skinnier after all that throwing up and diarrhea. He eats 3 times a day but I'll skip this last one and just feed him in the morning.

He seems ok now. He's following me around and nipping at my heals as I'm folding and putting clothes away. I don't know how he has that energy after throwing up and crapping so much. :)
