Very serious problem....

I have been divorced for about a year now. I have a 4 1/2 year old daughter. The EX-WIFE is now living with a convicted felon. One of those being child abuse charges. I have a criminal history on the guy and it ain't pretty and I damn sure don't want my daughter staying with this freak. I will be calling the abuse hotline today and reporting this problem.

I was wondering if anybody has been though any kind of investigation like this and if so what did the investigators actually do? Did they do a good job?

damn. i don't know anything about an investigation or what you can get done and how soon man... but i wish you all the luck in the world..

actually.. fuck that. i don't even believe in luck. do what you have to do, whatever you have to do, to prevent that from continuing.

and i would HIGHLY suggest going to a lawyer tomorrow to have him help you in completing your mission as soon as possible.

i agree with decem, get to a lawyer fast. don't let your child stay in a potentially dangerous situation. try to stay calm and dont lose control of your own emotions.

Go to court.

If that fails kidnap, move to Ireland.

I thought this was going to be another "How do I get my hair to stand up" serious kinda problem.

Shit. Thats heavy stuff.

ouch... that's a tough situation.. just becuase the guy is a x-felon doen't mean you will win a coustdy fight... How is the relationship with you X? If its good, talk to her and share your concerns about you daughter... she what she think.. be open and honest if you can.. Have you met the guy? Some people a can clean up there act... Don't judge him just on his rap sheet... although that is definitiely a red flag....just proceed honestly and diligently in your daughters best interest... good luck.. keep us posted...

I'd say beat the shit out of the guy, but you don't want to jeopardize you not getting the children.......or give him a reason ti hurt them.

I wish you luck though!!

I really feel sorry for your daughter because she the one that's caught in the middle of all this. I'll say a prayer and hope you get your kid back man!

yeah...

You are right. just because he is an x-felon doesn't mean a thing. But doing drugs and getting drunk around my child is really pushing me over the edge. My ex-wife is the beast from hell there is no talking to her about anything. She uses my child as a destructive messenger. It is really sad. This has got to stop. I have tried to talk to her about this guy but she says he is the best thing since sliced bread. I would really like to go there and handle it my own way. That is not the right thing.

Well...

I have called about every agency you can and things don't seem to be working out very well. I then called a lawyer and I explain the story to her. She says that you really can't do anything about it. Basically I have no case. So, I say I am going to have to wait until something happens and then do something about huh? She says sorry but the justice system is re-active and not pro-active. Well dam what if it is to late to do anything. DAMN this sucks ass. I am handcuffed and can do nothing to bring my child in a healthy environment where she belongs. FUCK THE JUSTICE SYSTEM. I can't sit back and let something happen to the love of my life. I wouldn't know what to do if something happened to my little angel. DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks for the update bro - I don't know you situation but why can't you appeal to a judge for a change in custody arrangements? If you can present a better home environment than she can then you may be able to convince the judge to make the call and give you full-time custody... good luck..

I wisj

It just doesn't work that way. There has to be a significant change in circumstances to change anything in a divorce decree. And from what I know there really is not a significant change. Even if that guy has a record doesn't mean that he will do it now. So they say. I guess I will have to watch closely and see what happens.

Keep a log and write EVERYTHING down - times, dates, circumstances, etc.

How any parent ESPECIALLY a mother (I know that sounds sexist and I know MANY MEN who make thier children's mothers look like shit, but because I am female I hold women MORE RESPONSIBLE.) could subject her child to such is BEYOND ME!

FUCK THAT!

I know how frustrating it is for you. Believe me, I do. If I had a dime for everytime somebody told me, "Just haul his ass back to court for more...." OK, and this would help how? The laws don't work the way people THINK they do - PERIOD.

Just keep a close watch and do whatever you deem necessary to protect your child. I would not hesitate to snatch my girls up and *poof* disappear if my ex suddenly lost his mind and started to keep time w/people that would TRULY harm my children... But think carefully, although your ex may have shitforbrains, is your child REALLY at risk? All the shitty parenting on her part can NOT undo the good that you have done...

This is THE FIRST thing that a dear friend helped me to realize last year when the divorce shit REALLY hit the fan w/my ex.

I know it sucks ass, but just keep a close watch, talk to your daughter OFTEN about EVERYTHING - I mean EVERTYHING!... and hope for the best.

My heart goes out to you.
