Vacation Spots on EastCoast?

Juiced

New member
I am going to take my girl on a nice vacation in september and weve been out west dozens of times and are gonna try the eastcoast for the first time this septmeber, were thinking Maine or RI, anyone know of a pretty spot for scenery and things to do in that area? Any good hotel recomendations? Thanks...

Outer Banks, NC. Nice beaches, chartered fishing. They have the Wright Brothers musuem and monument where they had their first flight in Kitty Hawk. i think they have some nice golf courses too. Cape Hatteras lighthouse isn't too far depending on where you stay.

Ocean City, MD. Great beaches, small town feel. Many nightclubs/bars and restaurants. They have a nice boardwalk with a lot of shops and stores and an amusement park on it. You can go to Aseteague (sp?) Island and see the wild ponies they have living on the island. If you talk to some locals you can find great, fresh seafood and possibly go crabbing if you find the right person who can hook you up. Golfing too.

edit- I didn't see the semptember thing, so some or all of that may be out. i guess just depending on the weather.

Bar harbor maine is beautiful...you can go whale watching and its mountainous...I really like it there...Or you could go to New York City....right by me and there is limitless things you can do.

Well..you can go visit Hotzie on Sept 10-11 for the Maine Air Show...

I have a vacation house in Bar Harbor...September is fairly dead and boring. I'd stay more south like the Portland area...maybe even the Kennebunkport area.

I think AAP is going to invade Wells/Oqunquit.....so you may want to avoid that area.

You miss the lobster festivals by one month. You are one month too early for the changing of the leaves here in Maine.

The low country of SC, Charleston, Beaufort areas are beautiful that time of year. There is the hurricane season to worry about, but for the most part SC tends to dodge them. For food, sights, history, etc., Charleston can't be beat. If you're looking for an old fashion type of beach town then Folly beach, outside of Charleston is the place. Very small town, not too developed, but close enough to Charleston that you can go into town for the night for dinner.

Charleston is growing very fast. Right now the real estate market is exploding down there.

I will say this about Charleston, it can come off as snobbish at times, but if you get to know the people there you will find them as friendly as anywhere.

Really?

The Hamptons are the best in Sept - only the hardcore people are out and all the party house weekender wanna be super stars are back to the bridges and tunnels.

And the weather is still fabulous.

Huh, you could just come to the Hamptons.
You can do all the same things here that you can do in Bar harbor.

Most people have gone home so their kids can go back to school. Even Martha Stewart heads back to Connecticut. Weather is amazing in September and October here.

I'd post more but Bran pwned imageshack....I have pics of my crap saved on imageshack from last year.

There are only two kinds of people in Bar Harbor.....residents who live on property handed down by family......and out-of-staters who leave after Sept 1st

Hey jacked....if you stay in Southern Maine...you can make quick trips to New Hampshire in 1 to 2 hours depending on where you go....

Or 2 to 2.5 hours to Boston via the Amtrak DownEaster...You pick up the T and end up near Fanueil Hall....

Or take the Cat to Nova Scotia for a day trip....

myrtle beach, sc.

or the jersey shore. just don't forget your visor, clear sunglasses, wife beater, gold chain, and hair gel.
