Using real name for package...

Hey all I was wondering how risky it is to use your real name for a package sent to you domestically. Up until now I have been using fakes but the last two packages sent my way had trouble getting to me. Does the post office check for name similarity in regards to the item being sent and the addy listed or do they just go by addresses? Also, what would the problems be if the package is seized and it has my name on it? Any help would greatly be appreciated!!

If you are worried have it sent to a friend or girlfriends house in their name. I have never had a problem with a domestic source.

here's one problem you may run into. having a package sent domestic is very safe. unless you have it sent in a fake name. in some places the mail carrier will return the package to the post office ,if you're not there, till the recipient comes to pick it up and then which i.d. are you going to pull out if you had it sent in a fake name. i tell everybody to use real name. :)

Use your real name to avoid being charged with mail fraud if you are caught retreiving mail sent to another persons name.

That shit happened to me! Of course my source used a fake return address, so I'm out one grand! It was weird though, cause I have gotten mail with my address and other people's names on it before. I wonder if the postal inspectors didn't have something to do with it. I called the post office and they said they tried to find a phone number for me to verify the name. Sounds fishy if you ask me.

yup, if you are shipping to your addy, use a real name. Avoids delay and allegations of fraud if you are accepting a package you should not be. Why would you agree to accept a package of unknown contents in someone else's name and open it? Sounds fishy.
In your name to your addy, you can still refuse the package. You've definitely broken no law then.

Good answer Vocor.

If you have a PO box, it would be perfectly safe to send it under a fake name, wouldn't it?

Also, if you are using your real name to ship a package, i'm 99.9% certain that the usps doesn't keep track of packages sent to/from anyone, unless you are already being watched. So if your pack gets through, soon as you toss the box with your address on it, it should be gone with the wind. But using your real name for WU or something like that leaves a trail, dammit why didn't i use a fake name? :(

If they happen to be tracking the package or the source ( not you personally ) this would get your friend or girlfriend in trouble....bad idea!

If you are using domestic source, a Private Mail Box is the way to go if you don't want to get your stuff at home. U can access your mailbox 24/7 and no ID is required to access, only to open it.
