Using more then one lift

Is it really nessecary to use more then one lift for a muscle group. Since Im limited to flat bench for chest, im doing 9 sets of 5 right now. After doing this my chest and trics are completely trashed. I would guess they would be just as destroyed if I used 5x5 and then 4 sets of another lift. Your thoughts?

Is there any way you can do flat bench and say pullovers? or maybe even finding a place to do dips?

ya i could do pullovers...but what is the reasoning behind using more then one lift...especially if that one lift is a major compound lift?

Thanks for your reply

Targets things slightly differently, works different muscle groups, a bit of variation so it doesn't get stale and/or you don't adapt.

There is no way that I could do all 9 sets of 5 with ANY kind of intensity...

You can always find a way to do more than one exercise...
