you can't find my individual ip though ... NO WAY, NO HOW.

I can send you that email from any credible site you want me to send it to you from (yahoo, hotmail, etc ... well if you call those credible, lol).

No problem. Go to hotmail and send me email at [email protected].

I will give you the IP of your originating PC or, if your college/ISP uses a NAT (ie: if you are in private non-routable space), then I can give you the NAT address that is presented to the Internet. Be fair, don't proxy through an anon service, and dont launch a Web browser from someone else's PC/Server/etc...

OK, I emailed you. Didn't use a proxy.

Did you email from hotmail... if so... he has got ya.

Sk - email headers have the source IP address of the computer that sent it... this is still the case even with hotmail and most webmail services unless you purposley hide it by going through anonymous proxies - etc.

There are way to remain anonymous... but most people don't take the time.

Counter if you want more security

first use an anonymous service like www.anonymizer.com before opening your "secure email program" this will shield your ip somewhat.

second open notepad (NOT WORD) and type your message

third use PGP to encrypt the message and then place in your email program

E- Mail it to a remailer (maybe two if your really paranoid)

The person on the other end will also need PGP to decrypt the message

close all open programs (browsers, email, notepad)

Use a program like Window Washer to clear all memory and cache areas (it it possible to see whats on your clipboard thru a browser add in). anonymizer.com has a test to show what a good programmer (or snoop) can find out about you

This will not give complete protection. (but unless an agency with three letters wants to find you most people would give up so its pretty good )

If you need more info give me an email

Well I guess that'll teach me. Fucking hotmail. Never gonna send emails without proxies again. I was gonna send you (thx9000) an email asking how, but yea the headers ...

Anyway, i'll shoot you an email back.

Fucking years of programming and I didn't think that they were stupid enough to leave the ip, mac, etc in the headers.

your right. 99% of the time i don't go thru all of the steps.

but its good to what to do ( if you want to)

Yes, Hushmail dont include your IP addy with email like Ziplip started to do.

BTW, why did Ziplip drastically change their policy regarding IP addresses? I'm just curious as to what compelled them to change their policies?

I HAD A MISTAKE HERE. THE FREE ANONYMIZER SERVICE WON'T WORK. BUT IF YOU HAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM AND USE THE SECURE TUNNEL IT WILL SHIELD YOUR IP.
