Used car advice

Did you apply for credit at a few places? Honda, GM, Toyota etc...

Some dealerships will find ways to get you approved, there are ways around it. Cash down, Security deposit, even pay stubs may do.

Are you currently a student, or have you graduated in the past two years? I know GMAC (finance company for GM, Pontiac, Chev, Ford etc…) will sometimes overlook bad credit (if it isn’t too bad) & give you $1000 off the vehicle, or pay your first two payments.

What about getting a loan/line of credit through your bank? I’m sure the interest rate would be lower then what you would pay if you got the lien from a company that deals with high risk/bad credit clients.

my credits shit,I got into trouble with a credit card and its in collections, ive already been turned down from places who try and work with bad credit before so Im stuck with this one unfortunately, but i believe im going with the grand am

thanks for the advice guys even though I suck and didnt listen

I've owned 2 Grand Am's before. I never had any major problems with either. Grand Am's are nice little cars. (I work at a GM dealer & I'm not just saying that :) )

It's never a bad idea to run the serial number! I would take him up on that offer.

Anyway, good luck with it!

I can run it if they can't.

If services were done at a GM dealer, I can tell you that too (to make sure things were up to date)

Just let me know :)

Im in the market to buy a car,ive got bad credit and found a place to finance me, options are kinda limited but ive narrowed it down to a 96 cadillac sts anf a 2000 neon le ,they are definatly in different classes thats for sure and im leaning towards the caddy even though its older, but im curious to know your opinions on each. ive read reviews but I feel some are biased and I know we have some real car guys here who wont dick me around.

cadillac looks old, costs more, less reliable.

neon's cheaper, looks cooler, more fun to drive, a bit more reliable but cheaper to fix.

i would get a honda if you got bad credit and low on cash always.

Pay atttention to the details of the contract, dont pay too much for the car and dont get screwed on the financing. A 2002 grand am isnt worth much so do some research on what you should pay per month.
People get hosed BIG time if they have bad credit and dont know what they are doing, you are dealing with sharks

Oh my god bro those two cars are pieces of shit! What are you thinking??

As already mentioned, stick with a Honda Civic/Accord or Toyota Corolla/Camry... older models of course.

What is your budget anyway?

I had to have my dad cosign my Harley loan because I didn't have enough credit history to qualify for the total loan amount. The deal was that if I ever had to default on loan payments the bike went immediately back to the dealer so he didn't have to pay anything. Getting someone to cosign is also a great way to repair your credit, so it's something to think about.

Like brothabill said pay close attention to the contract, and make sure they don't set up penalties for early pay off and such. Nothing wrong with a grand am, just make your payments and get your credit rating up so you don't run into problems again, once you settle the credit card thing.

Cheers,
