**Urgent** comp help

I just got some wierd pop-up saying someting about a mIRC and that "I notice you are missing - something- ....then it asked if I wanted to have windows find the filepath for me, when I clicked ok, i pulled up another window titled "mIRC options" and under the name and email name and nickname the word "jihad" is there someone let me know what is going on...thanks...BTW I have Zonealarm Pro running too...

jihad is a holy war.

mirc is internet relay chat - that is the interface into that rather - a client.

some trojans install an irc server when they go in... others just post to other servers, saying your ip - basically noting that you are wide open.

other than that - I'm not sure what you are talking about.

I got a complaint from roadrunner the other day, that I was hacking some guy in tampa, should I just delete all this mIRC shit? thanx HapScrap

You probably downloaded a malicious .exe or .ini file over mIRC. I'd reformat my pc pronto.

Well, I wouldn't go so far as to reformat.
But I would uninstall mIRC.

And look for files modified at the time that pop-up appeared and remove them.

I got his IP addy can anybody fuck this guy up with it? my zonealarm logged over 500 hits from him today, and the fact that his name is "jihad" bothers me...here is his IP addy : 169.254.142.94 he is in Marina Del Ray, Ca. thank for the help and i am deleteing all mIRC files and beefing up the security thanks again

jihad is the name of a virus - or are they calling it a worm?

doens't matter - all of them are all basically the same shit and then someone changes the name based on whether they changed it in the middle east or china.

get a port scanner - or use the one you have - watch what is coming in and out.

lots of hits is far different then large volume going in and out.

if they are putting shit on, or taking it off of your system - then I'd be worried.

or if the thing is replicating and spawning out, then I'd care.

other than that, who cares?
