Yes I i'm a victim of a slow economy and lay offs, it sucks. I'm recieving a wopping 240 a week from the gov't. does anyone know from first hand knowledge if this amount comes at 240 as they say i qualify for or are they going to tax the 240 before they give it to me? Thanks

It is your choice. You can get it taxed right then, or you can get the lump sum and pay taxes on all you draw at the end of the year.

In FLA, it is $284. Wonder why yours is so low?

In Washington, it is freakin' $497!!! Can you believe that??? Anyway, I think you should be able to tell them you want the taxes taken out beforehand or pay it later on.

I guess i will just tax it now so i dont have to owe more at the end of the year. I dont know why Ca is so low...i wish i got 497.00 a week. Unemployment sucks....thanks for the responces

i got laid off and get a whopping $310 a week hehehe... kind of a joke and kind of a blessing... but then i had been paying into it for the oast 8 years so... really they are just giving it back.

It was upto $450 in Connecticut. Then I move to Georgia. Lost my job where it's a whooping $284 just like Florida. I would take the whole thing and just be prepared to pay the taxes. Chances are you'll land a new job pay takes and won't even owe. That's how it worked out for me.

Finding work is still very hard. I know people who were in the IT field and they were laid off. They can not find another regular job until the economy picks up (i.e. stocking shelves, data entry, etc..) because they are all told that they are OVER QUALIFIED. Some have gone as far as to flat out lie about their education and experience, downplaying it and dropping their college degrees off their resumes.

That's not uncommon. Sometimes you have to downplay because the employer knows as soon as you find something better you are outta there. It sucks all the way around but you gotta do what you gotta do.
