K so a while back I get this girl's # at a bar. She's cute, kinda girl next door type. Well anyways. I talk to her on the phone/text her a little. Nothing out of the ordinary. Then I get a text saying that she's changing her # and to call her on it. I call and it's some weird/creepy ass chipmunk sounding prerecorded voice... Some rant about how "things could always be worse" At the end it was like "your call has been routed to the Dominican Republic and you're being charged ___x amount of $ can't remember per minute." Then there is some advertisement @ the end of the call...Tonight I look @ my phone bill & there is a $319 charge...FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

God damn it lol. What has this world come to?

I have her old #. That's all, I'm sure the name she gave me was fake...I mean I doubt she returns to the bars she cons bros at. She said she was a student @ SFSU and was from the south originally, so I didn't recognize the area code or think about looking it up or anything. I looked @ the # she had me call w/ the weird voice and hers and the area codes are different...but i didn't memorize her # so i didn't think anything of it @ the time. Plus a lot of my friends are from out of state and kept their old cell #'s so I didnt think it was weird or anything @ the time...damn.

I dont understand who is making money from a scam like that. You should contact your state's consumer protection agency - what is it the state's attorney general or some such. A car dealer dude in NJ tried to scam my family. I filed a complaint and had no *proof* of the scam other than telling them what happened. Guess what? The dealership backed off after I filed the complaint.

I am certain you could do something similar. Over 300$ for what? Seriously, people should be told about this scam. If you keep quiet about it, that would let the scammers keep stealing.
 
UPDATE:!!!!

Cal jumps to conclusions! lol.

So I got so pissed I called up some old friends who go to school there to see if they heard of said chick. She mentioned being in some business club. Turns out my friend is in the "Business Administration Leadership Organization" and she is in it. They actually talked about me once and he was like yeah me and "cal_21 lol" go wayyy back lol. She actually asked him to give me teh new # cause she forgot mine. (which never happened)

And in the middle of my sleuthing I realize I should call Verizon about the charge. Turns out it was a computer error. Thing is it happened the same day she had my call that #.
So that # she had me call was just a shitty joke, hmmm lol. Fuck my life is weird.

(there was a time at EF where the above commentary would be applauded and all would laugh at sadistic humor meant to get tight-assed boring folk all up in arms. sadly, this type of humor is mostly met with post deletions and faux drama :( )

So I call her and tell her the story and how I thought she scammed me and I found out today it was a mistake. She thought it was hilarious and offered to take me out for din din this weekend. I told her I have an essay to work on this weekend, but I'll def think about it. What should i do?

I was selling my 2 (awesome leather LEATHER, Nice awesome LEATHER) sofas on Craigslist. Just wanted to get rid of them really, so I put them up for $200. Some guy messages me within an hour and wants them. Asks what they look like color etc.. I showed him the pics blah blah. OK He wants them.

"Call me tomorrow at 6PM"

I say OK.. Next day I call him at a NY number he gave me. It was a recording of some kind. No problem, I left a message. AFTER that I get nonstop calls from every freaking marketing company in the country. wtf? Just BS calls from different shit which I NEVER get anymore after the do not call list thing. But now I was getting them every couple of hours at al hours of the day and night.

So, ummm, that's my story.

Now I still IM the guy just to bust his chops. He can't get rid of me. Whenever I see him online, I talk to him and he's like "I gotta go dude, I'm at work" and I keep BS'ing... 5 days and counting. Ehhh, that's all I got.

He also has an Ebay selling thing for Jewelry.

Next time I see him, I'm gonna ask him about selling me jewelry and stuff. He doesn't know I know about his jewelry stuff on Ebay. Fucking asshole. Actually, he might not even be on there anymore.

SUPERIORMINDSINC is his name. Tell him I said hi and if he wants the sofas to come by my house.

Why would she have ever bothered giving you her real number first if she was just going to do that? You still have her real number and can trace it back to her with authorities in tow, correct?

I turned out to be mistaken about the whole thing. I posted it in here somewhere, maybe I should edit the original post now that I have new info. Turns out I jumped to conclusions lol. But it was really easy to do so because the charge was from the same day. I dunno it's a weird situation. I should realllly start my essay though :*(

Yeah the maintaining part is tricky lol. Hey so was that dominican republic charge message part from the number she gave you, but the real charge didn't turn out to be from that recording or what...

That part of the recording was supposed to scare you. Then it said just kidding, but I still worried....lol

Then when i saw a huge charge i assumed it was from that. I said earlier it was a computer error. Basically when i got my phone replaced the woman in the store said to keep the old one. i was like fug it whatever. When the new one arrived there was no paperwork saying anything about how i was supposed to mail the old phone in. But they happened to bill me for it the same monday i called that # she gave me. I called them today and they said it is not a problem and since i still have the old phone they'll mail me out some envelope to send it back in or something.
 
I'd kill the bitch anyway. Just because you got scared. Fuck it, you're a man!
