Ultimate Fighter 3

New member
The new season starts Thursday! For those interested, here's Spike's lineup for Thursday nite:

(central times)

5-6pm Ultimate Knockouts
6-7pm Ultimate Knockouts 2
7-9pm UFC's Ultimate Fight Night (with fighters from past seasons)
9-10:30pm Ultimate Fighter 3

A 1 1/2 hour premier, I'm guessing they will have two fights right off the bat. I'm looking forward to a good season, especially with Shamrock and Ortiz being coaches. Back in the day, Shamrock wanted to tear Ortiz a new one, but ended up getting pounced on like a speed bag.
I haven't checked out any info on this season's fighters, but I'm sure there's something on the 'net about them.

Yeah Shamrock got a beating when he fought Tito last time. He had a bum knee or something, which is now been fixed. I dont think it will help him out, he keeps getting knocked out or beat up. Shamrock is not the fighter he was back in the 90's.

But he has a real temper so the UF3 show should be a riot cause Tito is such a punk, he will f*ck with Shamrock relentlessly.

I am pretty psyched about this one... one of my friends is on the show... so it will add some added excitement for me. Of course, he can't tell me shit about what happened. Although, I can get a little insight into whats going on.

As the sport gets more popular unfortunately it gets more commercial. Watch out for mad product placement and logos emblazoned on every open space. My hope is that they will focus on the fights and training more than the drama of a reality shop.

Looking forward to seeing a new crop of young fighters though.

They have to start making more money and bringing in more revenue. Right now the best fighters are in Pride because there is no money in the UFC. If the UFC could land a big sponsor like Budweiser or something, then they may start to get the pay days better for the UFC athletes.

dude tell us who your friend is so if he does something dumb like pissing on someones bed or gets his ass kicked in 3 seconds we can make fun of him
please :o )

LOL... he is pretty laid back... and I know he must have made it pretty far into the season, because he was gone for over a month. I tell you what, if he fucks someone up real bad, I will tell you who he is. If he gets his ass kicked, forget it.
;)

Joe really got his ass kicked
anyword onthe Koscheck Cummo and Burkman fights?
guess that's more the other thread sorry

I origionally didn't like Tito but from what I've seen on the show he seems like a really good guy, Ken seems ok to
I liked the sandbag thing he had them do

Here's the wrap up... http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=news.detail&gid=2425

I would have rather seen Koschek and Cummo fight rather than a couple of the others, Stevenson gassed out pretty quick, thought he would be better than he was, looked no different from when he fought Cummo.

So it goes...

I don't understand wrestlers usually have great cardio and Joe is froma wrestling backround...

I think Joe is a natural 160-155. He is packing a lot of weight on that little frame. I am sure that is a factor in his conditioning. I know myself, I am 5' 10" and weigh 230 at about 10%... I need to be about 6-7% at 215 to have gas. 200-205 would be optimal, but I would have to lose a lot of muscle.

PS... I will reveal who he is: Jesse Forbes. I knew Jesse was pretty damn good from rolling with him in Ju Jitsu class. Basically, I would just try to avoid getting submitted with him and I only submitted him once. His wrestling and Ju Jitsu is pretty solid, I think his stand up is the only thing he needs to be complete.

Also, Ken said he was like a sponge, and that was one of the first things I said to him when we were training.. because of how quickly he picks everything up.

I am looking forward to this season, no challenges and more fighting. For the most part the fighters look good but wouldn't you expect them to all show up in good shape. I hope these guys last unlike season 2 where half the guys were injured.

What was Ken thinking not bringing in a BJJ guy? He admits he has no knowledge in those areas but yet he brings in a bodybuilder/ nutrition guy instead. The contrast between the two coaches is vast and it will make for a riveting season to see which coaching method will produce the most wins. Maybe it's the editing but Tito actually seems like a good guy, up until this point he has just seemed to be a prick with skills. Ken is a mellow guy but he is definately showing his age.

My rant:

I don't know if it was just me but it bothered me that Mike Stein had eyebrows waxed like a chick. I was glad to see him go. I'm not supporting unibrows or anything but his was a little 'fem' for me. Did you see him fixing his hair in the mirror during the show. Goodbye Sally, this is a sport for men.

I said the same thing... unless you have a unibrow, eyebrow plucking is off limits... otherwise you are a cum guzzling faggot.

I smell bullshit. It doesn't matter if you are eliminated early or not, everyone goes to the "loser house" until all of the tapings are over. Care to explain?

Explain what? We work out at the same gym, actually he got me to start going. I did not see him for a month or so after he left for the show. Where is the bullshit? If he was in a loser house, then he could not mention that anyway or he would violate the contract he signed. He was not allowed to say anything about the show.

All I can do is stare , hypnotized , at the VERY wierd shape of Tito's head .

Does this happen to anyone else ?

Im looking forward to this season, too. But I thiink too that shamrock is really showing his age. Tito will pounce on him once again come July. I'm wondering, though, how are they going to keep filling up an hour a week without any team challenges? Are they just going to fill the time up with training and drama? Without the team challenges, what else is there besides that?
Yeah, Tito has a pretty weird shaped head, huge jawline, like a cartoon character. I was surprised how he offered his hand to Ken, he probably figured, "I'll be rippin' this dude to pieces in July, I might as well save up my rage for him until then."

Episode 2 tonight - looking forward to seeing some more of the action. ANyone have early predictions for winners?

I like Tait Fletcher in the LHW's.
Unsure yet in the WW's.

He was Joe Rogan's bodyguard and there is a story of him getting into a fight with a drunk guy in a Las Vegas hotel and putting him to sleep with a RNC. Supposedly he pulled guard on the guy, did an omoplata and then choked him out while hotel security watched. The guys friends did not jump in as they recognized Joe as the 'Fear Factor' guy and just watched. They apologized for their friend later as they carried him back to hhis room. They guy was supposedly bigger than Tait (6'2" and 220) but he made quick work of him.

Now way. That big hawaiin guy outclassed Ross in every way. I was impressed with that lanky bastard.

Surprised the hell outa me; that Hawaiian kid has some decent skills. I'll be looking forward to seeing him fight again.

He was much better than I thought he would be. He had nice elbows, great knees and he pushed the action and was relentless. I really like that kid.

The more I watch the more I wonder how Ken Shamrock ever got so much hype behind him - he's fucking clueless.

Instead of grappling - let's golf!

I will point out your weakness, but not teach you how to get better.

You know, at this point there isn't much time for a guy to learn a ground game. If you don't have it already, you may as well swing for the fences and hope for the best. I think you can drill on very specific things to look for in a weeks time, but I doubt Pointon would have gained anything from grappling training.

Ken does seem a bit out of touch though. No wonder the Lion's Den has produced no champions of late.

Yup, me too....anybody got any idea who his 3 losses are to?

I think the hawaiian guy was way better but that wasnt saying much,he knew ross planned to try and punch and that was it ,its easy to defend against.

with somoene giving you thier back its pretty easy to throw a rear naked choke on them.

I wasn't that impressed I mean 5'8 vs 6'6 when 5'8 has no groundgame....
5'8 only shot is striking at that point and 6'6 has so much range on him it's not even a fight at that point

Talking about his chin huh? My brother is pretty skinny, or was. He joined the military and now his face got all fat, mainly aroound the chin area. He also gained about 40 pounds or so.

Tito Ortiz is not fighting Ken Shamrock now. Forrest Griffin has taken the fight instead. Dana White said it in a radio interview a few days ago.

Pretty sure Tito completely ripped his ACL in the Forrest fight. That's why he could not take him down in the second round and got a lucky takedown in the 3rd. I have never seen a fight so lopsided in the first round and then suddenly turn into a contest. That was a shame. I think if Tito was healthy they would have stopped that fight in the second round with Forrest. He was getting his ass handed to him.

dissapointing episode last night - thet Brit brought it to the Louisiana boy. I am hoping next week is more exciting.

LOL I sure as hell didn't expect Rory to win that fight. Goes to show anything can happen in the ring, at any time.

Man, every episode make Ken look more like a knob, and Tito more like a great coach...

Oh, and anyone have any idea about the "mystery letter" That tells of someone backing out? I'm pretty sure I know, but it may be a spoiler, so I'll let other throw their ideas down first.

Yeah ole Solomon sure talked some shit, got gassed and then his ass handed to him. He didn't know what happened there at the end?

What do you guys think about that other dude giving him pointers on ole Rory, what a jackass... sometimes you get exactly what you deserve, I don't think it will happen but would like to see ole Rory hand is ass to him just for paybacks....

Rory's game is obviously his BJJ; he almost had a few triangles and armbars on Solomon. His striking, on the other hand, is totally brutal. The kick sure didn't do damage, and when I watched the replay, it looked like the 2nd last punch was the one that knocked him silly. But, a win is a win.

Heh, I don't think Kendall would have any trouble with Rory. I don't really see a problem with giving advice and pointers; essentially Solomon didn't have any coaching advice anyways (From Ken: "Just turn it into a street brawl!" Priceless.), so any advice worth it's weight probably evened things out.

Great call by Tito on the high kick. Coincidence, or a future maker-of-great-fighters????

:coffee:

There was the guy from Randy Coutoures gym who was at the pool and said "I just want to go home". I have a feeling the letter has to do with him.

After a dominant first round, surprise! Anything can happen at any time in MMA, that's what I love about it. The kick looked kinda weak but hey, it worked.

You would think that when Tito is yelling "high kick" Solomon would have been expecting one from Rory. The venue is so small and there are only a handful of people in the room each fighter should be able to hear their oponnents coaches instructions and change their game to avoid getting beaten.

The kick did look weak, but in replay you could see that his knee hit the side of solomon's head. He was loopy on the way down. I really don't think Rory's weak ass punches did anything.

I do think it is the dude with blue hair that will be leaving. He doesn't seem to have his mind set on it and he has a son with brain cancer... so I can see his priorities being in other places. Question is... who does Ken bring back? My guess would be Jesse.

That was pathetic. Dating some chick 6 months and you decide to leave a chance of a lifetime for some pussy that's probably banging someone else anyways? Holy fucktard.

On a side note, I feel ripped off that there wasn't a fight this week.

Well at least I didn't miss anything besides some dumbfuck pissing away the chance of a lifetime for a chick that will end up dumping his ass in 6 months.

"ya can't be pussy whipped... you gotta whip that pussy" :chomp:

That sucked there was no fight. So will they bring back Soloman or Jesse? I hope they bring back Soloman and Rory and starts talking trash around the house.

Solomon is a Middleweight. It is either out of Kristian or Jesse. My money is on Jesse.

Very dissapointing episode last night - I agree wholehearterly with previous comments - what a pussy for leaving the show.

The deaf guy was sure milking his condition and that Danny was sucking it up. Bringing him food and waiting on him. We are all big buys here, they should be able to take care of themselves. After manhandling his training partners for weeks they finally give him a dose of his own medicine and he doesn't like it.

by the way, its BS that they let someone whose already lost back in. thats not fair to the rest of the guys. they should bring in a alternate if they need to fill a spot. lots of good guys out there.

In some ways I agree, but whoever they bring back should be made to fight immediately. No skating to the semi finals

yupp they should have to manatory fight when they come back im not sure if they get to train in the loser house but if tito could he should have matt hamil fight jesse (who i think they are bringing back.) well depending if they train at the loser house that wsay matt has more of an advantage.

I would think Jesse would go to Tito's team since Tito's guy was the one that left. That would make Jesse fight Mike or Tait. I am only going by previous seasons this is what they have done. Of course, they seem to change the rules all the time.

Yeah but the producers made them look like a couple fags with the whole "more than friends" comment and showing them bunking up together. I was laughing my ass off.

I caught that "more than friends" comment, too. I was like WTF? Next weeks show better be fucking A+, to make up for no fight and having to watch some pussy-whipped bitch crying around about a piece of ass at home. He even had tears welling up in his eyes. Jeeezzzus!

P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C , fucks over his teams streak and big advantage, now Jesses gona come back and clean up ... but Bisbing will rop him in the finals.

What a brutal decision; Tait had class taking that like he did. Like everyone else, I was pretty sure it would be dead even, and a 3rd round would happen.

A split decision for Josh?!?! Christ, do they get fuckin' figure skating judges to do these fights? Pffft.

Next week should be good. I hope Danny wipes the mat with Ed; he reminds me too much of Leben---a loud mouth red head.

Holy fucking shit... I thought if anyone was going to get the decision it would be Tait. But a 3rd round was needed. Tait controlled Josh on the cage, kept throwing knees and every time they went to the ground Tait nearly submitted him and actually caused more damage. At the end of the 3rd Tait faked like he was hurt to get Josh to bite on coming to the mat (I think this worked against him in the judges eyes). Then he almost triangled him for a decision. If that fight went 20 more seconds... Josh would be uncoscious. Look at the end of the fight. Josh was a bloody mess and Tait looked unblemished. Even in the standup I saw Tait land a few hard jabs and some punches. To give Josh the decision was a joke. If it went a 3rd it looked like Josh was physically exhausted and Tait was ready for another round. Not sure what these assclown judges were watching.

As for Danny... he looks like a real puss. I have a feeling Ed is going to stomp a mudhole in his ass.

I thought Tait won. But he didnt look like he would have advanced any farther anyhow. Josh is going to take a beating in the 2nd round.

Im looking forward to Danny vs Ed also. If history serves correct, Danny will take it. Has anyone else noticed the fighters who talk the most smack cant back it up? It was true last season also.

KD1 said:

I'm hoping Danny will win for two reasons:

1) He trained in TKD, and I'm always a fan of anyone that brings that to the UFC.

2) Ed talks smack, and a LOT of smack, and I hate that shit.

But.....I have a feeling Ed will crush him like a bug. He trains WITH Team Quest, WITH Leben, (and he's a red-head, lol) so he's probably a tough SOB just like him.

MikeMartial said:
1) He trained in TKD, .

Speaking of TKD... I saw the Hughes vs GSP fight last night and GSP caught him with a nice spinning kick to the stomach. I think if they fight again GSP will beat him. He won the first round and Hughes pulled that armbar out of no where.

I caught that also; I hadn't seen that fight previously. Wicked kick from GSP, but Hughes took it like a tough SOB; David Loiseau laid out McCarthy in UFC53 with the exact same kick. Didn't even seem to faze Hughes, though. Both GSP (Kyokushin Karate) and Loiseau (TKD) can throw some damn hard kicks.

That armbar did come outa nowhere, and surprised the hell outa me. GSP was doing pretty good up until then.

Tait got robbed, plain and simple.
He went for subs and mixed it up.
I do agree with Ken that Tait should have taken it to the ground faster and stuck to his game plan but after all he is a warrior and wanted to throw some hands. I hope something else happens and Tait gets to come back and avenge the judges horrible ruling.

Jesse's hiar looks stupid, let's see if he learned anything.

Yeah. Tait was definitely robbed. I can't remember one moment in that fight that Josh actually accomplished anything. He was being controlled, never landed a clean shot and nearly got submitted a few times.

I know Jesse and he said the loser house was beyond boring. Since there was nothing to do... a Mohawk sounded like a good idea. The funny thing is that Jesse just took second in the Pan Am Ju Jitsu tournament and earned his blue belt. Watching him get hit with that armbar was baffling. I think his lack of MMA experience (only 2 fights prior) and his total disrespect of Noah (he really disliked him and said he was a whiny bitch) made him ripe for that loss.

Well said.

I've thought GSP has almost looked ubeatable until B.J. got a hold of him. B.J. was not overwhelming by any means but he was the first to stand even with him and actually hit that pretty face a few times.

TUF fight was less than impressive, especiallly when some kid is bitching about back pain and not even training, at 22 a chance in a lifetime to piss it away like that, being beat up is what the sport is all about, no one will ever really know though.

Oh well, on to the UFC 60, any good undercards?

Another week, another mediocre fight. Ed is cocky but backed it up with the GNP like he predicted.

Next week should be good as we will finally see the deaf wrestler prove himself.

Shamrock won control but it was an empty victory as the final match is already set. Let's see if they let him pick the semi-final fight.

I am not sure what was so "unimpressive" about Ed. He took Danny down and G N P'd him for 4 minutes. He did exactly what he said he would do. Then he saw an arm and jumped on it like dog on a porkchop. Looked pretty good to me. Most ground guys never look "impressive" but they get the job done.

Now Danny.... he needs to shut the fuck up.

i think he will get owned

With a 10-3 record and only 1 win by decision, there's nothing sloppy about Ed. It'll be interesting to see him actually fight someone with skills, though.

Ed vs Kalib or Kendall will be excellent to see.

Ed looks by far the most skillful. Like martial said.. he did EVERYTHING he said he was going to do. Not one time was he out of control witch is so common with new fighters. I think he might lack speed. Not with his punches, they looked clean and good combonations, but his footwork. Who knows it to early and I havent seen his other fights. I think he might be one of the best fighter going into ultimate fighter. Lets just say he has potential to be very good but needs plenty of work..... but who doesnt. Well I take that back Danny's potential in my opinion wasnt that great.

Another note CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT STUPID FUCK THAT LEFT FOR HIS 6 MONTH FUCK BUDDY!? Id kill to have a chance on that show..... sad.

Man, another totally disapointing fight. I expected a whole lot more from both guys, especially Mike.

Myself, I've never been in a "cage" match, or any fight for that matter that has allowed a corner to yell out instructions. But WTF, do people go deaf during a fight? All he had to do was listen to Ken (I can't believe I'm saying that) and he would have knocked Matt out with either a knee or high kick.

Damn sloppy punching by both guys. Mike looked like a 14 y/0 girl in a schoolyard catfight, slapping his hands and looking at the ground.

I'm really hoping/looking forward to a fight betwen Ed and Kalib; I think that'll be the fight of the season.

both fighters looked real shitty. matt looked just like any other wrestler turned mma. not a fucking clue what to do when hes got you down. hes real slow on his feet also. and i swear he has the worst jab i've ever seen. so slow.

ya ed and kalib have looked the best so far. the brit aint to shabby either.

and i wonder how much matt had to hold back because of his injury. that must of affected his jab. ground game also.

Matt was real agressive, he pushed and controlled the whole fight. Other than that, he wasnt too effective, but his shots had good power.

He goes to the hospital way too much. He will never make the final, he is too fragile or something.

yea maybe if he changed his diet it would help him with the whole fatigue thing, but other then that he dominated the fight other then the stupid mistakes of walking into punches, and that kick in the face , o and not being able to hear.. other then that it was ok.

young_gunz said:

No kidding......white bread, bolonga, pb and jelly sandwiches? WTF? This kid is an olympic caliber athlete. I think Matt is a seriously sheltered and niave kid.

Couldn't agree more. Both had lousy cardio - gassing in the 1st round. Both had sloppy stand-up. They have a long way to go to before they step into the real octagon.

Yeah, and he's going to the regular Olympics in 2008; but that's not even relevant---point is, he has no concept of nutrition.

true true, ill stop talking about him after this one but, with all the free supplements and free food how cant you eat right????

Godamn I thought Kalib would make short work of Kendall. That skinny-assed Hawaiian throws some mean knees and roundhouse kicks. Damnit, I was rootin' for my boy from Surrey.

I had to wonder, though, why the hell Kalib didn't capitalize when he was on top...he seemed to not know what the hell to do once he was up there. I thought he had a few good chances to G n' P.

Looks like it'll be Kendall and Ed in the final. I think Ed will put nurse Rory into ICU in the first round. ;)

How did you see that already, its not on for 30 minutes for me. Must be on the East Coast, huh? Seriously though, if that guy Rory wins again I will lose my mind, I still can't believe he beat Solomon. He looks so mentally and physically weak.

Is anyone still fighting from season 2? I see guys going from season 1, but never from season 2 unless I have missed them.

Exactly what I was thinking. Kendall did good for his size. Kalib in the pre fight showed good exsplosiveness and power.... had me nervous. It was a pretty good fight. Even tech wise they showed some skill. As a wrestler watching these takedowns and defense cringe. Tito gives the right advise. Kalib is a pussy. I mean I WOULD NEVER give up on a fight. Let alone a fight worth that mcuh money on national telivision. A broken rib.... lake shamrock I call bullshit. I had a guy throw some punches at my back while I beat the shit outta his boy and like Sham said.... you cant really talk. Kills for weeks. They need to find some DIE HARD CRAZY fucks and train them. Sick of the pussys.

The theme of this season should be called "The Quitters". Seems like more people quit than actually lose fights. I cant believe those LH's didnt want to return, and they had to get that Brit to move up in weight. When you factor in Noah quitting, Matt quitting after winning, Rory talking like he does not want to fight, and Kalib quitting in the ring - man where do they get these guys? It must be tough finding decent MMA dudes for this show.

And I agree Kalib didnt do squat on the ground, he had Kendall in side control, should have been throwin knees to the body and elbows to the head as soon as he got there.

I was totally blown away at first that Tait didn't want a second chance, since he was robbed in the decision. But he does strike me as a "fuck the establisment" kinda guy---I wonder if the little kid in him just decided to say "fuck you and your UFC, Dana". If so, it backfired. That Brit doesn't seem like a very skilled fighter, but he does love to fight, and the shit he says cracks me up.

Christain? Pfft. He KNOWS he's not in the caliber of the rest of the guys. Fuck, probably 12 hours prior he was smoking a stogie, drinking southern comfort and stuffing his face with gumbo shrimp. He just didn't want to get his ass handed to him again on TV.

My Predictions: Ed for LH, Bisping for MH

I repect the brit guy for that. I remember when I used to box, all these dudes would come down to the gym, wanting to spar right away. So we'd spar them, beat them up ( except for the occasional rare guy that could hold his own against someone with much more experience ). 90% of them never come back, and half of the guys that do are not interested in sparring right away again.

Then there is this small amount of guys who really want to fight, to get better, they dont care if they took a beating the day before, they come back and ask to spar again. Even if they are not that athletic, or talented these were the guys that ended up competing and winning fights.

I wasnt one of them lol, when I took a beating, I would go work on my technique, then spar when I felt ready again. But I have a lot of respect for those guys.

Even if he wins, he would have to drop out, so I can see why he dropped out of the fight. Say he takes a few more shots and the rib gets worse.... then it sets him back for a while. His ribs were definitely cracked.... or at least a slight fracture. One thing he should not have done is immediately acknowledged the break... it gave Kendall more fuel to go after them.

Still dont you have any dignity? Fuck winning and loosing, what ever happened to the eye for an eye. Id try and smash all his ribs. Broken ribs arent going to kill you unless it punctures a lung. Ture about acknowledging the break.... I was like yelling "Well you have no chance now!" I dunno. Just not the way I would go out. AND GOD KILL ME IF I WOULD LEAVE A CHANCE LIKE THAT TO GO SEE A GIRLFRIEND!
