you can close your karma when you check your profile. there's a small box in the upper right corner of your karma messages with a dash in it. hit that, and you won't see your k messages anymore.

i did! you don't have to turn off images, just go to your profile and click on the little button with the dash in it on the top right corner of your k messages. the box will close.
