Holy shit. Shamrock didnt even have a chance. His face was mangled. He kept getting up though, he didnt give up. Hes got some balls man. Tito Ortiz is one sick son of a bitch.

Did Ken even get any good shots in? Did Tito kick his ass on the ground or standing. Please details would be appreciated!

he's really old bro....i can't believe he never fell down from the hits, except when he slipped. also can't believe how gassed he got so quick. oh well......good fight, but tough to watch for the shamrock fans out here. :) he was getting pulverized.

Tito got him on the ground and just beat on him from the top, and got most of the stand up shots in too for that matter. shamrock got in a few in the very beginning....but tito dominated all around. stopped the fight before round 4 due to shamrock being so fucked up.

Tito was bad ass - Ken had heart but he was ot skilled.

Hughes won due to ref stoppage on an accidental head but - that as worst fight of the eve.

It was a hard fight to watch.I think a lot of people wanted Tito to get his ass kicked, but that didn't happen.

Shamrock had no chance at all. From the first minute of the fight he was losing. Tito dominated him standing up and on the ground. He pumeled(sp) Shamrock with punches and knees standing up and elbows on the ground.

I would have to say Shamrocks fighting carreer is over.

Although I am a Shamrock fan it is time for him to retire from the fight game.

He was in incredible shape though.

This was probably the best UFC in years

thanks for the info on hughes. wooo hooo for ortiz. i would like to see frank shamrock return and square off again with tito. would be another excellent fight imo!!!:p

Tito is ONE TOUGH BITCH. and Shammy. poor guy. Never had a chance. Tito got past his closed guard i dont know how many times. Does anyone know what the shirt TITO was gonna put on say ? He took it off when he decided to shake hands with Shamrock. But he did have a shirt that said something about him. :doublefi:

Damnit, I I wanted to see Shamrock kick his ass, but he was manhandled. I like Ken from back in the day. I guess the sport has evolved-Tito was bad ass! Totaly focused, and in top shape! But Ken fought the wrong fight just like he did against Fry in Pride and try to go toe to toe with them instead of taking them to the ground and using his ground technique and leg submissions. I don't know if he could have done anything anyway. His time has passed-it sux ,he was one of the best

This was the best UFC i have ever seen. there wasnt a bad fight. Shamrock/Ortiz was probably the most boring. I was rooting for Ken, but it looks like he is too old. He was hurt in the first minute. He kept getting up though. Chuck lidell and ortiz is going to be a good one.

Shamrock just lost too much weight. IMO he may have fared better if he came in heavier. Tito just overpowered him.

My idol was beaten badly

Ken Shamrock is a NHB and Pancrase icon. It was difficult watching as I wanted the 38 year old Shamrock to win. Changing of the guard is what we saw. Now whats interesting is that Tito sounded like he wouldnt take the Chuck Lidell fight unless there was a huge payday since the 2 are good friends. I hope we get to see that fight.

By the way Im an NHB fan and am not the real mark kerr. He just happened to be my fav NHB fighter when I registered.

Yea, my stamina sucks too. My sifo doesn' t understand why it goes up and down, but the juice takes a lot out of you. Also I don't watch UFC but I was referring to the fight Shamrock had in Pride where his corner threw in the towel because he lost all his wind.

yeah, i felt bad for him at a couple points last night. i wanted to sub in real quick for him just to actually throw a few punches at tito real hard.....then morph back into shamrock so i didn't get a kick to the midsection. lol. no one realizes how having the energy just drained out of you feels until you wrestle or NHB fight or whatever way you do it. then your like jeez that three minutes made me feel like i ran a marathon. crazy shit.

My favorite fighter is Vanderlai Silva, didn't he fight Ortiz a while back? What was the result. Also do you think Ortiz could handle Pride?

i mainly get to see UFC....opposite of you....so you'd be the better judge there. :) i'd love to see him get his fanny kicked though. Like BFO said liddel will kill him i think....but they are bro's. so who knows on that one. i'd LOVE to bash a few of my good friends faces in to be honest. just have to be on the right day. :D :D :D

How crazy would that be if you had to fight one of your friends? I don't think it would be an exciting striking fight, strictly submission

tito has a strong wrestling background-that would explain his constant double-leg take-downs on Shamrock. has studies some ju-jitsu and does kickboxing as well. cant get any better than that

I am a tito fan, but also a shamrock fan. Shamrock was absolutely jacked up for this fight. I really wish he would have fought back more, or even at all. Shamrocks face looked like silly putty. Tito walked out of there with only a small unnoticeable scratch on his chin.

Robbie lawler kicked some ass too. That was the first fight and it set the night off perfectly. He opened that guys eye up like a bagt of chips. Definitely the best UFC I've seen.

hey Moose ,I definatly think Tito could handle pride after his display last night( and i hate saying anything good about Tito). I have always thought that Pride was the better tournament, and had higher quality fighters, but I think that's changing. Pride always brought in the best, the legends (Sperry,Ruas, Rickson) from all over the world, but I think it has gone down hill a little recently. The new young guns in the UFC are pretty tough.Somebody mentioned Silvera, I think he is fighting in Pride tommorrow night-check out pridefc.com for the listings

It was tough sitting there with my 9 yr. old son watching Ken get beat up. I know Ken and my kid thinks he is the greatest......in my eyes he still is, but the torch was passed last night to a much better, younger, and complete fighter.
Ken landed one good shot early in the first round and Tito went to one knee and quickly bounced back up, that was his only offense the entire fight. I honestly thought he would go to some type of submission, but that neber happened. I have to say Tito fought a "perfect" fight against Ken. He went full throttle the entire time and Ken never had a chance to set anything up, he was always on the defensive.
All in all, it really was the best UFC there has been to date.

Tito definetaly showed himself to be worthy, To be a legend you have to beat a legend. and he did. Shamrock didnt have a chance his face looked like a dog chewed on it, while titos face wasnt even touched. This instance takes me back to the tyson vs lewis fight, Shamrock and Tyson both one of the greatest in their sport. They leave for 4 or 5 years and come back expecting to capitalize and they both failed miserably. While the other guy lennox and tito trained their ass off because these guys are legend. just show the determiniation and will to strive and win.

maybe Tito won and had the motivation to win because Kens lil brother Frank beat the shit out of Tito and Tito wanted some revenge! Ken shamrock is washed up , and has been for 5 years, he really never was that great as a complete full contact fighter in the UFC he was just Jacked and overpowering in some of his matches, and stamina has always been one of his downfalls... The best fighter with the last name SHAMROCK has never been Ken....

For anyone who wanted to know, Tito's shirt said "I just killed Kenny you bastards!" I think he had a change of heart since he started to put it on and then took it back off at the last second.

As for the fight, Tito really dominated Ken. Ken was supposed to have the superior stand-up and submissions going in but Tito showed why he's the champ by not only negating Ken's offense, but actually out-gunning him in every aspect. It was sad to see Shamrock lose like that but not because I like him... more because I feel bad seeing a pioneer of the sport get man-handled so easily. Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE Tito fan and I was cheering like crazy for him to kick Ken's ass but afterwards, when Ken admitted to just getting beat up, I felt a pang of sorrow for him and his crew at the Den.

Ha ha ha, thats why I love Tito, he is not just the best fighter (and yes, he would dominate Pride too) but an entertainer too. The shirt in my avatar say "Guy Metzner's my Bitch".

I just don't think theres anyone who can beat him in that weight class. He's not near the best fighter in the world technically, but at his size he can overpower. He's young and it's his time, but it will pass. If Vitor could ever get it back together he could give him a run.

You must have not watched the Tito vs. Frank Shamrock fight or follow MMA very much. Tito was winning a very good fight between the two when after an all out exchange Frank ended up in a submission and Tito was gassed out and couldn't fight back and was done. Tito has vastly improved his skills since than and would easily overpower the smaller ghost once know as Frank Shamrock. Who by the way is not really Ken's real brother. Also some people mentioned Tito fighting Chuck Liddel. I'm friend's with a UFC fighter who has fought Liddel and my friend also trains with a another top ranked UFC fighter who has fought for the title. They both told me Tito would beat Liddel.

3 reasons why Tito kicked Kenny's ass. 1) Speed, 2) Speed, 3) More SPEED! It was obvious that Shamrock was the old man. Yeah, he was in good condition, but Tito was obviously the faster fighter.

Tito is still pretty young for this sport and very much in his prime. Right now I think hes trying to do what mohammed ali did to boxing and bring Money to the sport. All the showboating and disrespect is good for business and I definitely think they should be paid more than boxers.

I have talked to few of them and they say the contrary. Tito does not want to fight Lidell. He is afraid of his superior striking ability.

Also they said, Chuck always takes Tito down when they used to spar.... it may be bullshit. I was surprised to see Tito duck the fight when asked about it. Friends or not... the champ must fight all comers.

Does anyone know how of any websites posting pics or video of the fight? I hope Tito and Belfort match up some time. Talk about 2 lighting fast fighters!

Ken never used a closed guard. The shirt said "I killed kenny! You bastard!"

Yes, Tito won through Lay and Pray tactics, didn't do any damage. He wouldnt fare as well in Pride without a cage to pin opponents against.

Ken was dazed after the punch that rocked him in the first round, and his head wasnt able to clear after that. Robbie's fight was the third for 4th one, BTW.

yeah, good point. hope to see him soon there then! so some one can bash his grill in! lol. maybe tank abbott will be pissed at him and punch him a good one in UFC, he said "pretty boys dying their hair blonde is pissing him off" in his guest appearance the other night at the PPV. ;)

Pride still has the biggest paychecks, so naturally most top guys want to go there. UFC is a very close second.

Very good point.

Tito's arts back ground also includes MUA TAI. Which is what he used mainly in the fight.

Debatable. Most guys cross train boxing and muay thai nowadays.. his stance certainly wasn't muay thai, the one kick he threw that didnt connect was however. While he does train it, I disagree it's what he used mainly in the fight. Classic G&P.

Granted while fighters may have a more educated opinion, they still can't predict worth a sh!t in this sport; it's too hard. Vanderlei (who had Tito literally running from him) thought Ken would whip tito...

Never seen them mix it up in striking, but ive seen Tito and chuck go at it on the ground, basing my opinion of of chuck's known striking ability and what ive seen, Id have to disagree.

His takedowns were drop doubles ( from under hooks ), then switched off to a single to dump him. Although his stance was not classic muay thai, the standing elbows, neck clinch, and standing knees were nothing but. A classic muay thai stance is open and Shamrock has always had success against that stance. I think Tito did his homework and fought a very smart fight.

My friend who fought Liddel to a decision and lost to be honest has no where near the skills as Tito does. I'm not saying it couldn't be done because anything can happen in the octagon, but from the fights I have watched of both fighters and from the opinions of the fighters I know Tito would have a better chance of winning.

Yeah, the plum and knees were (dont remember elbows standing?) but I dont remember his knees landingeffectively- neither fighter was very competent in that position(ken WTF? you didnt even use basic defenses), tito did most of his damage on the ground.

Tito is a big lightheavy and overpowers everybody his weight and knows how to use the fence, but would do that well in Pride.Tito will beat the crap of Vanderlei in the octagon and will get his ass kicked by vanderlei in pride.I don't think anybody can beat him in the octagon, not even Vitor Belfort ,who seems to be unable to get his shit togheter since his heavyweight days (damn he was juiced up, used to train with that dead BB ,Leffler or something). And Lidell won't last that long as soon has he get to the ground (unless he changes his ugly aircut, laugh).I think the only two guys who could do well or beat tito in the octagon are Ricardo Arona and especially Dan Henderson ,but both are in pride ,so tough luck...
I dream of the day when tito will get his ass kicked, but it is not in the near future...
