UAW leaders comment on Delphi proposal

UAW President Ron Gettelfinger and Vice President Richard Shoemaker today issued this statement on Delphi’s contract proposal to the UAW:

”The UAW received Delphi’s contract proposal today. In light of Delphi CEO Steve Miller’s recent public comments, we were not surprised that Delphi’s proposal displays a total lack of concern about the impact it would have on Delphi workers, their families, their communities and our nation. Delphi’s proposal is designed to hasten the dismantling of America’s middle class by importing Third World wages to the United States. In short, the proposal faithfully reflects a vision of an America in which an elite few live in luxury while everyone else struggles to make ends meet. Maybe some believe the American Dream is over; the UAW rejects that dismal idea and will continue the struggle to fulfill that dream.”

There right. We can't compete with an avg wage of 61cents an hour. This countries middle class is going to total shit at the expense of making a few elite filthy rich. Not only that........parts of the China military will overtake the US by 2015 and were funding it thanks to the likes of Walmart.

That's also bad for you as a taxpayer as Walmart tops the list for employees on medicaid, there basically shifting the cost of health care to you. Walmart has cost US taxpayers billions(yes, billions) in public assistance.

I could go on and on but I have learned this isn't really the place for it.

And it's also our own damn faults, don't blame the unions. Inferior trade agreements and open borders could make it difficult for Delphi to even make $ with the recessions they seek. Let's see.........$10.00/hr and some benefits compared to $1200.00 yearly for a 70 hour work week and NO benefits. Which will they choose?

It's also our own damn faults because the majority of US folk are fucking retards. They think that it doesn't matter if you vote or not and as long as they have bar money for friday night everything is good.

Don't get me wrong......there are still tons of big $ to be made in this country and I have done "ok" but generally speaking I believe the middle class is in for a real surprise. The huge multi-nationals are sucking this country dry and the GOP are all for it.

I will stop there and sum it up with a point I already made............the demise of America's working class is their own fault because the majority are fucking idiots. If you don't like people running the country that are more interested in stock options than your kids getting quality healthcare and costing you over 20% of your poverty level income........then stop sitting around crying about it, put your fucking dope back in the bag and do something about it.

sorry their buckaroo your lil' spiel is bs...plain and simple GM can't compete with foreign auto manufactures. market share is dwindling. the UAW had no choice but to buckle. they know if they don't their will be no more GM or Ford...would you be happy if both these business got bought and turned scab or closed up shop althogether? cause that's what would happen if you got your way. and it's not a rep or dem thing, fucking michigan is largely democrat...it's called globalizatin and competing on a global market. blaming a political party is so weak and uneducated

No, you are the one that is wrong. I already made the point that we can't compete. And I know they would close. The point im making here is that the US worker can't compete in a global market without drastic cuts. In the current situation the dems ideas will get these companies closed down and the GOP are paving the road to a workforce mirroring China. So.......I personally would rather see the likes of GM go belly up leaving millions on the streets vs. being force fucked by a few rich assholes. Then maybe, just maybe there would be a trickle of brain fizzle amongst the little people that something isn't right.
