The cop understood and let me go and told me to be careful. It was about 2:00 am and there wasn't but a few people on the road.

I would call his captain and complain and ask why didn't you get an escort to the hospital.

You're under pressure -- u should be driving the speed limit just to be safe. I know in la there are many accidents of people rushing to the hospital. Irony is -- an ambulance takes them the rest of the way.

Yeha well if someone hit me, and killed a family member in my car -- i woudlnt' give a fuck how many babies she was having.

Everything is relative sir. Though i do think the cop should've exercised discretion and escorted him to the hospital. Unless he's witnessed an emergency run/crash. In which case he's emotionally attached.

lol, holy crap wootoom, I had a dream about this last night and I never saw this thread.
I was thinking in some weird dream state about this story of a newarticle that was a big deal a long time ago about this guy that got a ticket for taking his wife to the hospital while she was in labor.
I was thinking about that article and that story while sleeping. Anyhow, the guy lost in court

Cops are only one step above criminals in my opinion.

To protect and serve? My ass. Majority of cops are there to carry a gun and to have the power that comes with it.
 
i don't want to read this whole thread, so can someone just tell me if she had the baby?

oh, and woot- fight the ticket. no judge is going to make you pay- bring proof that you were going to the hospital (admission form with date and time, etc.)
 
The 'rushing a pregnant woman in labor pains to hospital' scenario is something that we've all seen in movies or been part of in real life, an everyday life occurrence, it's something you prepare for and rehearse in your mind as a father/mother to be because you know it will happen. On the flip side of the coin the cop as a creature will have also foreseen the same scenario happening during the course of his duty and will have mentally prepared what he would say and do in the same situation.

So what happened to that cop to make him act without concern or empathy? Did his parents not show him enough attention as a kid? Did all the boys at school laugh at him in the showers? Did his pregnant girlfriend run away with another guy? Who knows, but IMO it's not the reaction of a humane person, it's another time he gets to play the book to his own advantage and his ego chalks one up against all those he secretly holds a grudge against.

BTW Wootoom, all the best to you and Daisy and congratulations on the longest post I've seen from you since I started posting here.

Fight it. The DA will most likely throw it away since he wont appreciate bad media/feminist coverage. Usually, in a civilzed area (which excludes Ontario), if you get pulled over for speeding while your wife is in labor, the cops will put on their cherries and escort your car to the nearest hospital. RCMP patrol guys had strict orders about that to never give a ticket under these circumstances.

documentation of what? do a story on what a cop doing his job? I mean yeah suxs and i understand timing and i woul dbe speeding too....but speeding is against the law and as someone said earlier what if in all the excitement he wrecked and hurt/killed someone? sure the cop shoudl have taken into account the circumstances and either called an ambulance or provided an escort but a ticket is still warranted.

Hmmmm. But he was only going about 20 over the speed limit. 20 Km's not Miles. And he didnt need to say he could care less if I was pregnant, he didn't have to make Wootoom take the keys out of the ignition, make him get out of the car, put his hands on the hood of the police truck, and get patted down for weapons, He didn't need to make him sit in the car, while I am in the truck sitting in there all by myself.

what are u talking about???????????? a fuckin accident coul;dve occured if i was going the speed limit... if i was in a fuckin ambulance and we got in an accident then what??? fuckin ambulances are allowed to go through red lights. now talk about safe

was all that posted? if so i missed that and I agree that was way outta line.....i took it as "we were speeding to hospital and got stopped and given a ticket" if it were just a stop/ticket then im saying theres nothing wrong with that...but evidentally theres was more
