Two really cool dog heros

I was walking my dog George last night. George is a way cool border collie. Suddenly, George started doing his little whine whine whimper routine. It is the sound he makes whenever there is another dog nearby. For whatever reason whenever George sees another dog he starts to cry. It's not a sad crying. It's sort of a hopeful, excited sound. He wants to go meet the other dog, and he cries because he can't. Well, I look up and there is this ultra hot looking woman walking three dogs. These aren't little dogs either. They are big pooches and obviously a bit to much for her to handle. (It was kind of one of those watch her cute but bounce and her ponytail sway as she trotted down the street things. The dogs were pulling her this way and that and she had trouble managing all three.)

She stopped the dogs at a busy street corner as she waited to cross. Suddenly, I heard her scream. One of her dogs had pulled free and bolted into traffic. Cars whizzed by, never slowing, and the panicked dog was darting all over the place scared out of his mind, almost getting hit each move he made. The woman went running after him. She had the two other dogs she had to struggle to control, so she was definitely slowed down. You could hear the fear in her voice as she called to him.

There were about 30-40 people watching at this. Nobody moved to help. I ran to my car. I knew I couldn't chase after her with George. I had to get him locked in my car first. Then I could help... but that was going to take precious seconds.

Then... these two old guys went running straight into traffic after her. The cars hadn't been slowing... and they weren't slowing now even though this girl with two dogs, this darting dog, and now these two old guys were all chasing down the middle of the six lanes.

Now these guys weren't young... they were in their mid to late 60s... but they friggin had balls that clanked. One of them shouted to the girl to get back on the sidewalk with her dogs. She was too big a target. Then they both went running in a loop wide around her dog, dodging zipping cars all the way. They cut it off from the front and drove it back onto the side walk. The dog was now on the side walk with buildings on one side, speeding traffic on the other, the girl and her dogs 60 feet ahead... and these two guys cutting her dog off from behind. The dog was scared... scared out of its mind... but running toward the woman at least he knew her and wasn't afraid of her. He ran straight toward her. Just as he got to her he was about to bolt back off into traffic and one of these guys went flying... I mean fully flying... He threw himself arms first and caught that dog while he was in mid-air. He landed on the sidewalk scraping across his belly but with two fists full of dog for his efforts. The other guy grabbed the dog by the collar.

The girl couldn't have moved faster. She got the leash and wrapped it about 5 times around her arm. She was sobbing at this point. I think she had just watched her dog get hit by cars almost 10 times in a matter of seconds. The two guys walked with her back off main road and onto a side street. By this time she was composed enough to get back on her way home... all three dogs safe and in tow.

I watched the two guys as they walked back toward their wives... who were still waiting just where they had left them when they first saw all this start to happen. Both of the guys were VERY nicely dressed. The one who had done the belly scraper was wearing white dress pants, an expensive dress shirt, and nice shoes. His clothes were now smeared with dirt and in need of a Salvation Army donation. The guys were laughing. One said, "God, I'm to old to have to run that fast."

Those two guys were cool.

stupid dog. i;d kick my dog;s ass if he did anything that stupid :D

but it was very brave of them, and shocking that none of the cars stopped. im not sure of i would chance running onto a busy main road full of cars just to save a dog (not that i wouldnt wanna save a dog, but confused animals tend to be equally scared of the people trying to save em and u might all get killed)
