....BECAUSE THEY WORE KU KLUX KLAN OUTFITS TO A HALLOWEEN PARTY. NOW I WOULDNT HAVE WORE THAT SHIT AND I'M DEFINITELY NOT PREJUDICED BUT THAT IS FUCKED UP. BLACK PEOPLE WHERE SHIT LIKE MALCOLM X SHIRTS AND PANTHER SHIRTS ALL THE TIME. WE DONT SAY SHIT. WHY WERE THESE PEOPLE EXPELLED FROM THE SCHOOL???


ON A SIMILAR NOTE. SPEAKING OF THE MALCOM X CLOTHING. I AM FROM THE SOUTH (NEW ORLEANS). SO NATURALLY SOME PLACES ARE GOING TO HAVE REBEL FLAGS. WELL THERE IS THIS HIGH SCHOOL NEAR ME WITH A REBEL AS THE MASCOT. HENCE A REBEL FLAG. LOTS OF BLACKS WERE WEARING THEIR "X" SHIRTS AND HATS. WELL, THIS SCHOOL PUT A REBEL FLAG ON A SHIRT ALONG WITH THE SLOGAN "YOU WEAR YOUR X, I'LL WEAR MINE"!!! EVERY STUDENT THAT WORE THE SHIRT TO SCHOOL WAS EXPELLED EVEN THOUGH THE BLACKS WERE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE TO WEAR MALCOLM X SHIT.


FOR THE RECORD....I DONT GIVE A SHIT ONE WAY OR THE OTHER. WHAT I'M SAYING IS TIT FOR TAT. IF A WHITE DUDE CANT DO SOMETHING CUZ A BLACK DUDE IS OFFENDED THEN WHY CAN THE BLACK DUDE DO SOMETHING THAT OFFENDS THE WHITE DUDE. THATS ALL THE NEWS HAD REPORTED. THEY ALSO REPORTED THAT TWO STUDENTS IN A FRAT WERE EXPELLED FOR A SIMILAR REASON. ONE WAS DRESSED UP AS A COP AND ONE WAS DRESSED UP AS A SLAVE. THEY TOOK A PICTURE WITH THE COP HOLDING A GUN TO THE SLAVE'S HEAD AS HE WAS ON ALL FOURS. NOW THAT WAS FUCKING STUPID, I MUST SAY.

Maybe blacks are rejoicing in the fact that they've used/abused a system to their advantage, and to the detriment of their white counterparts.

Use the legal system (which is definitely broken) to right a wrong which can never be righted in the first place.

Not sure MLK is the opposite equivalent of KKK. MLK advocated peace...Malcolm X preached violence...I don't know if he ever did violence....

Still the college is wrong for punishing them.

Well, I think it's in poor taste given the KKK's past. It's akin to dressing up as Bin Laden and having little toy 747's on you and carrying with a little box which reads "Anthrax". Halloween is not an excuse to lose all respect, but some people use it as that.

He went from being a street thug, to a minister of Islam...and yes he advocated violence towards whites as a means to an end. During that period in his life, he didn't like us honky's too much. :)

Anyway, what's really cool is he came to realize that violence wasn't the ansewer. In fact, he dedicated his last few years to binging about peaceful co-existance between blacks and whites. He realized that color was just that...color, nothing more. He admitted that many of his former beliefs where wrong, and he was ashamed of preaching hatred.

How many men have the insight and courage to completly change thier view of the world? Especially when that view is held in such high regard by thousands of people.

I admire the man, and I sure as shit don't admire the KKK.

I live right by DC. Once known for being the MURDER CAPITAL OF THE WORLD! You know what? Rarely ever did you ever hear of a white person getting killed there. Almost all the murders are black on black crimes. Sure white folks get mugged and shit but not killed by blacks. You know why? Because if you're black and you kill a white person YOU GET CAUGHT. Miss. Students Expelled From Frat

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Two University of Mississippi students have been expelled from their fraternity after an Internet photograph showed one dressed as a police officer holding a gun to the head of the second, who was in blackface.

Similar steps were taken in Alabama by two Auburn University fraternities whose members also were photographed at parties in blackface - one with a noose around his neck, others wearing Ku Klux Klan robes.

University of Mississippi officials said Thursday they were investigating the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity's involvement in the incident there. The two fraternity members were not identified.

The photograph was taken during the all-white fraternity's Halloween party, officials said.

The Daily Mississippian student newspaper reported the photograph was posted on a Web site containing professionally taken photographs for purchase by fraternity and sorority members and others. The picture has since been deleted from the site.

``There wasn't much judgment, but the two people depicted are very much misdirected individuals and have no place in our organization,'' said Wynn Smiley, who heads the fraternity's national organization.

In Alabama, the Beta Theta Pi chapter at Auburn University suspended 13 members, and Delta Sigma Pi suspended four and expelled two. Earlier this week, the university barred both frats from holding any social events while an investigation continues.

Both fraternities have publicly apologized to black students.

At a campus diversity rally Thursday, about 500 students and some administrators called for unity, while urging strong penalties.

``This is not OK. We want the university to do something about it,'' said Jennifer Moody, a member of Chi Omega, a white sorority.

``It's unfortunate that a clarion call like this is needed to bring us together,'' said Brandon Wilson, vice president of Omega Psi Phi, a black fraternity.

It's not very complicated.

Wearing Malcolm's X and the Confederacy's X are different for clear reasons. One represents pride and resistance and the other represents, at least in the context it's used now, slavery. One represents the fight for equality. The other represents the denial of equality. (NOTE: I'm not saying that the Confederate flag was intended to represent that, but in contemporary culture that's what it has come to symbolize. The Georgia flag's incorporation of the Confederate flag, for example, was meant to represent resistance to the Civil Rights Movement.)

Although, I doubt the punitive effect of suspending anyone stupid enough to wear a Klan outfit or blackface, I think it's equally stupid to claim these aren't racist and unkind gestures. I think it is highly unlikely the average Jew, for example, wouldn't be outraged if his university tolerated a fraternity whose members took to wearing Storm Trooper uniforms. And I can well imagine the furious ranting of people on this board if, say, a Muslim fundamentalist group in Los Angeles began wearing masks of the people killed on Sept. 11. I can well imagine, too, your reaction if a militant gay organization started a media campaign to brand all bodybuilders as closeted homosexuals.

All of the whining about minority fraternities and affirmative action ignores the same realities. African Americans are still -- as the news story above painfully demonstrates -- the objects of intense hatred and blame. Minorities need refuges. From what do whites need refuge? The accusation of racism?

Because the leaders of this country recognized that the entire culture has been organized to deny minorities (and women) access to its institutions, affirmative action was created to even the score a bit. And, please, don't just deny the inequality. Read Andrew Hacker's "Two Nations." It's a purely statistical analysis and reveals the astounding stratification in our society.

In any case, it is hardly unique to give segments of the population a hand. The GI bill gave veterans access to education. I went to Yale under a grant that enlisted 10 black people and TWO white Southerners. Affirmative action is a way for institutions to confront their own prejudices. Although it has surely become degraded in some places, its abandonment is premature. Again, the story posted here demonstrates how alive and well racism is in the hearts of some young white Americans.
 
Those articles seem to indicate that they were suspended FROM THEIR FRATERNITIES, not the school.

As such it seems to be pretty politically motivated and yet another example of yielding to political correctness, but it is each organization's right to chose how it presents itself. Clearly Alpha Theta Ohhh, Beta Theta Potato, and Delta Sigma Peeonme felt that it would tarnish their publik image and therefore had to yield to the pressure of the powers that be in their universities by suspending the members.

True very true.. Just becuase I am a white male doesn't mean that I grew up in a two story two car garage with BMW's parked in it.
I have what I have because I have worked a full time job since age 16. Not once in my life did I or my parents have anyone of any color picking cotton. We have what little we have only because of our hard work.
Mostly it was the rich land owners of the south and rich city folk in the north that owned slaves. The average white person couldn't afford to buy his own land much less buy slaves to work it.

If you look at the bottom of the post, this is obviously made to hype everyone up and maybe cause some anger. It is obviously posted by a white supremist in an effort to recruit/gain support. There is nothing wrong with that, it's freedom of speech.

You have to look at hate in general. Hate crime is a hate crime regardless of race. Hate is evil and tears the world apart. To focus on one race and one type of hate just doesnt make much sense except that it's racially motivated. Someone is just lashing back at blacks.

It's hard to believe that the media skips such stories and covers only the white on black crimes. I mean, we stories everyday about shark attacks and traffic accidents and you tell me that a hate crime is not big news???

What's with this black and white thing anyway. It's getting so tiresome and old. That's all you hear about. When hispanic, indian and asian populations rise in the next few years to equal or surpass whites and blacks, then I guess that will be new news huh?

Those students deserved to be suspended and even expelled from their schools........there's no place for that shit. Even though I don't care what the man stood for, there's a vast difference between wearing Malcolm X shirts and sportin the white hood. Plus, if some monkey wants to where a "kill whitey" shirt.......why should that be a green light for anyone to lower themselves to that level??? If some "lower life form" wants to express to the world what he is, let him. I'm not going to go join him by wearing something that puts me in the same category as him.

Kayne, I made the distinction between wearing a white hood and wearing a Malcolm X shirt. I don't care if a black guy wears a "malcolmX" shirt, as well I don't care if a white guy decides to wear a rebel flag shirt. But to dress up as KKK members or to go as a cop and a slave, that's crossing the line and I don't blame a University for not wanting no part of that. Of course if a black really does wear a "kill whitey" shirt or a "I hate white people" shirt, they should be expelled as well. If the KKK was just a white rights advocate group I'd say yes..........but since they're obviously NOT in favor of the constitution......I say why should it apply to them??? If they had their way they'd still be hanging black people. Now yes, I beleive some black people should probably be hung, but so should alot of white people too.
