Turning 30 tomorrow....

I got super depressed turning 30 but then realized these have really been my best years so far....not looking forward to the big 40 though :worried:

i don't understand the point of this thread. are we supposed to discuss you getting married? are you questioning your fidelity and need some advice? is this some 1/4 life crisis that you need to vent about? i mean wtf man.

delete.

Yes, 30 is a not that big of a deal but I thought when I was 21 I would be living a different lifestyle by now. I hoped to be retired by 35. Does not look that way. On pace for 47 which is not bad. Work hard - play hard.
As for being married - excited. Wonderful girl. Very happy but a lot of my friends are not and they are always going out and hooking up. Kind of miss it to a degree.

Been together for 3 1/2 years and getting married next month. We get along great and have a fun life.

I did not picture you as getting married ; because of some of the threads you have started lol.

uh oh!!!

lol

I dont miss anything about being single at all. Thats just me though and thats why I married as young as I did. I enjoy the married life ; I cant explain what its like ; its content ; satisfied ; and happy all rolled into gether.

Plus its nice trusting someone and being trusted ; no more waking up alone.

thats good!!! June wedding!! How fun!

why are you bombed for life? what happened?

Where do you live? I live in NY where almost everyone is hot and sexy and goes out. Different lifestyle. Hard to go out and drink and meet people and not want to follow through. NY is a different animal.
Yes, June wedding. Should be amazing. 171 people and then off to Bermuda for 2 weeks. Very excited.
Bombed for life??? Not sure what you mean.
How old are you? When did you get married? You must live in the South? :-)
Went to college in NC and they all get married young down there.

30? You are just a baby, trust me when I tell you that as a man you will begin to come into your own in your 40's... As for marriage all I can say is this: "My first husband was a lesson. My last husband is a gift!"

Here's to hoping that you get it right the first time around! :)

Midwest = South = Same :-)
NY is all about sex, sexy people, going out and having fun.
Some Jerk Off must of hit me. No big.

Looking forward to both but feel kind of weird.
Not sure how to describe it.
Congrats! Be excited. I think that's wonderful. A new phase in your life. :)

Very excited but I am thinking I am going to really miss the late night parties in the City with the guys. Hanging out till all hours of the night. Meeting new people and having fun. Now I will be having fun just a different kind. I guess we all need to grow up sooner or later. Guess I am just a lot soon then most of my friends.

if you dont mind my asking ; what do you do for a living? You said you wanted to retire by 35 ; but yet you are able to have a second home on the beach at 30?

How?

Give me some wisdom! lol

My friends say my life is in a downward spiral.
I think they just can't keep up.
I have a great job, sick condo, cool beach house, hot fiancee, etc...
They life at home with their familes.... :-)

Turning thirty AND getting married, my condolences.

I do Business Banking for Citibank.
I deal with clients that do up to $20 million in annual sales all over the world but I do most of my work in NY. I do loans, lines of credit, deposits, escrows, etc... I do have clients in LA, Miami, Bermuda, Boston, London, etc so I travel alot too. Great job, amazing money but a lot of work.
I guess the more you make, the more you spend.
I thought when I made 150k at 25 it was the best but when you make more money, you spend more.
Make 100k, spend 100k.
Make 250k, spend 250k
Make 750k, spend it.

When will you be 40?

in 5 more years :(
I have only come across 2 gray hairs and no wrinkles yet....so I'm holding up for now but don't know how long I can expect it to. lol
I plan on fighting it every step of the way.

Like Fine Wine. Better with Age.
All in time I will take it in and like it but for now, not looking forward to 30.
But Jay Z says "30 is the new 20" so I got that going for me. :-)

It is so much different for guys.
A guy can look better as he ages...wtf is up with that.

Seems to me that after 20 you start to fight aging ; I slowed down tanning ; and I started to have to watch my diet a little ; started to look like shit if I did not get enough sleep

hangovers keep getting harder and harder to deal with

Yes, I could go out and pull an all nighter and be at work the next day like I was fine. Now I need 2 days to recover. Body is getting not as tight too. Need to do more cardio to keep it tight. Watch what I eat and drink too. Not fun.
Cindy I just saw the pic of you = nothing to worry about! Very nice!

Yep, you have nowhere left to go but down. Sorry to hear that bor.

Remember, even with a pre-nup you'll still have to pay child support and probably won't get out of the marriage unscathed as far as distribution of assets and spousal support. My friend's brother just got divorced, had a pre-nup that was fought and upheld, he still has to pay her $800.00 a month( $1,600.00 in NYC dollars) spousal support for two years and she makes 80k(that's 160k in NYC dollars) a year as a pharma rep, they have no kids.

A man has no reason to marry under the current legal system unless the female makes more bank than him. You don't have to be married to be in a committed relationship.

She makes almost as much as me so I am ok. No divorce for me.
I wasn't going to get divorced either..lol. You'll find things are different when you get married. A marriage counselor friend of mine gave me the one truism about marriage," A man gets married hoping his wife will never change and a woman gets married hoping to change her husband."

I wish you two the best of luck!

I like that. So true.
Thanks

You'll be fine for the first couple of years, then you'll have a baby and you will start to REALLY miss it and want to go out and bang every chic you see. Im right over the hudson so I hear you on what you're saying about the women being hot around here and the night life.

Congrats anyhow

Thanks.
