I do like the current avatar.. Kinda Issac Hayes.. meets the new age Black Panthers.. and that is cool with me.

But...

I really have grown to love and admire you for the OJ avatar with the stocking cap. I do not know why.. but it is just not like you not to have it.

Could I PLEASE see it back?

Thank You,
DBaller.

I'll add it to my gallery when I get home tonight. :fro:

By the way, that is my work Army field uniform I'm wearing in my avatar, to include the govt-issue shades. Not intended to look like a Black Panther!

I know man.. I was just trying to make you laugh..

It does make you look like one of those right wing Black activists from the 60's...

wait... you are Black... and Right Wing......
:eek2:

Uh...the Black Panthers were left wingers, but they did look cool, even if they were haters.

TEXgrl, I am dissapointed you know so little about me after all we've shared.:bawling:

I thought it was common knowledge that I am black, conservative and well-hung.

They wore cool clothes and had big fros. Only problem was they hated whitey, robbed banks and killed innocent people to finance their movement.

I became a conservative largely because of an ex-Black Panther. Eldrige Cleaver was one of their officers, and he did a lot of bad stuff, to include having folks killed. He fled in exile, but came back to the states later, renounced his ways, did time and became a Christian. He wrote a book called Soul on Ice when he was a militant, and another called Soul on Fire when he became a conservative. Both are good reads. The first advocates hate, the second love.

He came to The University of Texas to speak when I was a student there in the early eighties. I was already conservative leaning, but his speech put me over the top. Many black (& white liberal) students were pissed cuz they came to hear him say how bad blacks have it, how the white man is to blame, etc.

Instead he spoke of individual responsibility and conservative values.

I've rambled enough. I encourage you to do a search on him.

I read alot about him. He died at the age of 62 in 1998. That is pretty young. It does not say anywhere how he died though. Only that his family wanted that to be swept under the rug.

The best quote that I have read by him is this one.. "I have taken an oath in my heart to oppose communism until the day I die,"

It seems he has a pretty intresting story.

Thanks for taking the time to check it out. He is one of my biggest influences.

Another good link:

http://www.cnn.com/US/9805/01/cleaver.obit.2/

yep already looked at that one.

I feel for a young black guy, he would be a good influence. He was doing the things he felt was right and carried them in a direction that was well suited for action. I am sure he touched the views of alot of people growing up at that time. It is too bad most people have or will never hear of him.
