trying to form a stongman comp...

Alright so I have a friend whom is in the military and he is looking at forming a strongman competition at his base. Problem is that there is no "dedicated competition equipment" so he is going to have to create the equipment.

So far the comp might consist of a truck pull (possibly hand over hand)

Farmer's walks using standard bench press bars

and some sort of sled drag

What I'm asking for is any sort of advice on how to organize the event, ref, other routines that can be constructed at minimal cost, and any other thoughts you more experienced strongmen/women may know...

Thanks!

I would guess you could pick up some kegs quite cheap and tractor tires just go to like the local beer brewer or whatever and ask if you could pick up some of the empty ones. Same with a tractor tire just go to the nearest farmer and talk to him... You could also do like a crucifix hold with just DB's or sledge hammers. Obviously deadlift would be easy too but I cant think of a cheap way of not doing it with just standard bars...

Good ideas! But what are DB's sorry I'm a little slow on strongman jargon.

Sorry bro, DB = dumbell

Big_BK was in a competition once where one of the events was a crucifix hold but he was holding the handles of two sledgehammers, I meant you could do that with just some cheap dumbells...

I just wish someone would set up a competition like that around where I live lol

Most of the people whom would be competing in my comp would be average joes. I don't think there would be many guys over 100kg, 220lbs. I figuered maybe there should be 2 weight classes, under 210lbs (95kg) and 211(95.1kg+),lbs up.

Anyone have thoughts on weight class for average joes?
